We are seeking a CNC Machinist to operate and program Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining centers supporting precision manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for machine setup, program editing, precision machining, quality inspection, preventive maintenance, and producing high-quality metal components from castings, forgings, and bar stock while maintaining compliance with quality and safety standards, including AS9100 and ISO 14001.


Responsibilities:

  • Operate CNC machining centers to perform precision machining operations, including boring, facing, threading, drilling, grooving, turning, knurling, and thread chasing.
  • Edit CNC programs by adjusting tool registers, offsets, compensation settings, and machine parameters to optimize machining performance.
  • Perform CNC machine setup, including installation and adjustment of chucks, tooling, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, stock pushers, vises, and machine attachments.
  • Verify machine setups and first-piece inspections by measuring dimensions and validating compliance with engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and machining documentation.
  • Monitor machining operations, identify process deviations, troubleshoot equipment and machining issues, and make programming or tooling adjustments as needed.
  • Measure finished components using precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with dimensional and quality requirements.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and basic machine troubleshooting in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
  • Complete production records, quality documentation, and shift communications accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following company safety policies and PPE requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase machining efficiency, quality, and productivity.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience operating CNC machining centers in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience editing CNC programs, setting tool offsets, compensation values, and machine parameters.
  • Experience performing CNC machine setup, tooling installation, and first-article verification.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, machining specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring equipment to inspect machined components.
  • Knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and machining best practices.
  • Working knowledge of basic mathematics, geometry, and trigonometry as applied to CNC machining.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining processes and resolve production issues.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality management standards and ISO 14001 environmental management requirements.
  • Proficiency with production documentation and quality control procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience machining aerospace, defense, or other precision-manufactured components.
  • Experience with process improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and continuous improvement methodologies.
