The Cosmetologist is responsible for providing professional salon and beauty services to spa guests in a safe, clean, welcoming, and service-focused environment. This position performs services such as hair care, styling, shampooing, blowouts, treatments, makeup application, nail services, facial waxing, and other cosmetology-related services based on licensing, training, and spa offerings.
The Cosmetologist is expected to deliver high-quality guest service, maintain treatment and salon areas, follow all sanitation and safety standards, promote spa and retail products, and support the overall daily operation of the spa facility. This position plays an important role in creating a relaxing and professional guest experience while representing the hotel and spa in a positive manner.
The Cosmetologist must maintain knowledge of current beauty trends, spa services, retail products, guest preferences, and proper service techniques. This position works closely with the Spa Supervisor, Spa Front Desk, Massage Therapists, Housekeeping, Engineering, and other hotel departments to ensure smooth operations and excellent guest satisfaction.
POSITION AUTHORITY:
The Cosmetologist has authority to perform approved cosmetology services within the scope of their license, training, and spa service menu. This position has the authority to:
Perform scheduled salon, beauty, and cosmetology services for guests.
Consult with guests regarding service needs, preferences, concerns, and desired results.
Recommend appropriate spa services, salon treatments, and retail products based on guest needs.
Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned service areas, tools, products, and equipment.
Refuse or modify a service when guest safety, sanitation, licensing, or health concerns are present.
Report guest concerns, maintenance issues, supply shortages, equipment problems, or safety concerns to the Spa Supervisor or hotel leadership.
Assist with inventory control by monitoring product usage, supplies, tools, linens, and retail items.
Support spa revenue through professional recommendations, upselling, retail sales, and rebooking opportunities.
Follow all hotel, spa, safety, sanitation, and licensing standards during all services.

The Cosmetologist must provide services in a professional, courteous, and guest-focused manner while maintaining a calm and welcoming spa environment. This position requires attention to detail, proper sanitation practices, strong communication skills, and the ability to personalize each guest experience.
The Cosmetologist is expected to
Represent the hotel and spa with professionalism, warmth, and proper grooming standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation before, during, and after each service.
Follow all state licensing requirements, health regulations, sanitation standards, and hotel procedures.
Use products, tools, and equipment properly and safely.
Maintain confidentiality regarding guest information, guest preferences, employee matters, and hotel business.
Communicate clearly with guests regarding services, pricing, timing, expectations, and after-care recommendations.
Remain knowledgeable about spa services, salon offerings, product lines, retail items, packages, promotions, and hotel amenities.
Support a peaceful and relaxing spa atmosphere for all guests.
Arrive on time and be prepared for scheduled appointments and assigned shifts.
Work cooperatively with Spa Front Desk to ensure accurate booking, guest check-in/check-out, timing, and service flow.
Notify the Spa Supervisor of guest complaints, appointment delays, product needs, equipment concerns, or maintenance issues.
Assist in maintaining proper inventory levels and controlling product waste.
Support team members when needed and contribute to the overall success of the spa operation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform professional cosmetology services according to spa standards, guest expectations, and licensing requirements.
Provide hair care services such as shampooing, conditioning, blowouts, styling, treatments, and other approved services based on the spa menu.
Provide makeup application, facial waxing, nail services, or other beauty-related services as permitted by license, training, and spa offerings.
Conduct professional guest consultations to understand service needs, preferences, allergies, sensitivities, and desired results.
Explain service procedures, timing, pricing, product use, and after-care instructions to guests.
Prepare treatment rooms, salon stations, tools, products, equipment, linens, and guest amenities before each appointment.
Clean, disinfect, sanitize, and properly store all tools, equipment, workstations, chairs, bowls, counters, and service areas after each guest.
Maintain proper sanitation logs, product usage records, and service documentation when required.
Monitor product and supply levels and communicate inventory needs to the Spa Supervisor.
Use professional products responsibly to reduce waste and support cost control.
Assist with retail sales by recommending appropriate products based on guest needs and services received.
Promote spa services, packages, enhancements, retail products, and rebooking opportunities in a professional and non-pressure manner.
Maintain a professional appearance and follow all hotel grooming, uniform, and hygiene standards.
Remain informed of current beauty trends, techniques, products, and service standards.
Follow all safety procedures related to chemicals, tools, electrical equipment, sanitation, and guest protection.
Report any guest injury, allergic reaction, service concern, damaged equipment, or unsafe condition immediately to the Spa Supervisor or hotel leadership.
Maintain a clean and organized salon area, retail area, treatment space, storage area, and back-of-house work area.
Assist Spa Front Desk with guest flow, appointment timing, service updates, and guest communication as needed.
Provide excellent guest service and handle guest concerns with professionalism and urgency.
Work flexible shifts based on business levels, appointments, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Support spa promotions, bridal services, group bookings, hotel packages, and special events when needed.
QualificationsJOB QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates should possess the following:
Current cosmetology license required, in accordance with state and local regulations.
Previous salon, spa, hotel, resort, or guest service experience preferred.
Strong technical skills in approved cosmetology services, including hair styling, treatments, makeup, waxing, nail services, or other services based on spa needs.
Excellent guest service skills with the ability to provide a professional, welcoming, and personalized experience.
Strong knowledge of sanitation, safety, hygiene, product use, and proper tool disinfection procedures.
Ability to communicate clearly with guests regarding services, expectations, after-care, retail products, and recommendations.
Strong organizational skills with attention to cleanliness, timing, presentation, and service quality.
Must be flexible and available to work weekends, holidays, mornings, evenings, and business-demand shifts as needed.
