COMPANY OVERVIEW: MOBIS Technical Center of North America is the Research & Development Center for Hyundai MOBIS, a Tier 1 supplier and an affiliate under Hyundai Motor Group. MOBIS produces and supplies a wide variety of automotive components to customers including component modules (chassis, cockpit and front-end module), core system, eco-friendly and DAS-mechatronics. Mobis delivers the design and development of advanced engineering, autonomous driving, infotainment, component modules, safety, brake and steering systems, lamp, ICS/electronics and software development solutions that consider the safety and convenience of our customers as well as the future. 

Requirements

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS:

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform vehicle-level brake system tuning including subjective and objective brake performance evaluation.
  • Conduct ESC (Electronic Stability Control) tuning to meet customer requirements and support FMVSS certification.
  • Execute competitive benchmarking of brake systems, including vehicle preparation, test execution, data analysis, and report creation.
  • Present benchmarking findings and technical feedback to Mobis Korea R&D and internal stakeholders.
  • Document  test plans, procedures, configurations, results, and next steps, ensuring traceability and issue tracking throughout development.
  • Support  brake product development and brake performance improvement activities,  including plant production and port-based support.
  • Provide  customer application support for brake performance studies, quality  concerns, and product improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, program management, and global teams to ensure project targets are met.
  • Conduct  in-vehicle performance testing using CAN communication tools (CANape, CANoe) and calibration tools such as ATI Vision.
  • Apply  foundational knowledge of vehicle dynamics, control systems, software, and  electronics to support brake tuning activities.
  • Maintain strong communication with Hyundai/Kia Motor Company and Mobis Korea R&D Brake Tuning Team.
  • Prepare  and deliver technical reports, benchmarking summaries, and development documentation.
  • Travel  domestically and internationally up to 50% to support testing, customer reviews, and global collaboration.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS / EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, brake systems, and in-vehicle performance testing.
  • Experience with CAN networks, OBD II, and vehicle communication systems.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with global partners, particularly in Asia.
  • Basic software programming knowledge and familiarity with calibration tools such as ATI Vision.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Reliable  transportation and a valid U.S. driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and able to work independently in dynamic testing  environments.
  • Strong  verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly.
  • Willingness  to travel up to 50% (domestic + international).
  • Be a team player with integrity and professionalism.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related      engineering field.
  • Automotive  development or tuning experience required.
  • Preferred experience with OEM ESC sign-off for the North American market.
  • Experience supporting Hyundai/Kia or Mobis Korea R&D is a plus.

COMPENSATION (California Pay Transparency Requirement):Annual Salary Range: $85,000 – $125,000 

Actual compensation will depend on experience, education, skill level, and internal equity.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods, operate a computer daily, and perform in-vehicle testing activities.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work is performed in office settings, test facilities, proving grounds, and in-vehicle environments.
  • May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions during testing.
  • Travel may include domestic proving grounds and international R&D sites.

TRAVEL:

  • Domestic and international travel up to 50%.
  • Frequent travel to customer sites, proving grounds, and Mobis Korea R&D.
