As a Stock Controller & Administrator, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the branch. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate stock control, supporting branch administration processes, and helping to ensure excellent service levels through effective organisation and attention to detail.

Responsibilities and Duties

Stock Control

  • Take overall responsibility for the branch's stock control processes.

  • Ensure the correct stock levels are maintained to meet customer demand.

  • Monitor and maintain accurate stock locations throughout the branch and yard.

  • Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies, goods received issues, and supplier queries.

  • Manage aged stock, damaged stock, returns, and stock write-offs.

  • Assist with stocktakes and regular stock audits to maintain stock accuracy.

  • Work closely with branch departments to identify and address stock-related issues.

Administration

  • Answer and direct incoming telephone calls professionally.

  • Process goods-in paperwork and ensure accurate filing of documentation.

  • Prepare and bank daily takings, maintaining accurate bank records.

  • Manage the branch petty cash float.

  • Deal with customer and supplier invoice queries efficiently.

  • Maintain and update customer account information and databases.

  • Order and manage stationery, workwear, and other branch supplies.

  • Process incoming and outgoing post.

  • Maintain organised filing systems and branch records.

  • Support general administrative tasks as required to assist the wider branch team.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous experience in stock control, warehousing, administration, or a similar role.

  • Builders' merchant experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Outlook.

  • High level of numeracy and accuracy.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Logical, methodical, and proactive approach to work.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

  • Friendly, professional, and able to work as part of a team.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 5:30pm, with alternate Saturday mornings on a rota basis.

This role combines responsibility for stock accuracy and control with the effective administration of branch operations, making it a key position within the branch team.
