As part of MITRE’s Center for Transforming Health, the CMS Programs Division is responsible for managing work shaping, engagement, and end-to-end delivery for the Health FFRDC’s CMS Portfolio with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid and Services (CMS).

Roles & Responsibilities:

In this role, you will be supporting large, complex engagement teams to address programmatic, policy, operational, strategic, and/or acquisition needs for the Center for CMS programs. As part of a team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with CMS to develop and implement evidence-based strategies and solutions to address some of the agency’s most complex challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategies and resolutions to complex problems across CMS programs (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance) with lasting impact on CMS’ mission.
  • Lead functional teams and complex project across or the CMS portfolio, integrating multidisciplinary team.
  • Communicate complex ideas to the Sponsor, anticipate potential objections, and persuade the Sponsor to adopt a new point of view to achieve their mission.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or other physical science/engineering fields.
  • Experience with health policy, application of the health capability, and in-depth knowledge of the health domain.
  • Recognized as a technical expert in one or more CMS programs in the areas of policy and/or operations
  • Demonstrated ability to apply best practices to develop and improve products and solutions and share with more junior staff
  • Experience supporting large, complex engagements that identify, design, and implement policy and business solutions for government entities or large companies.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with senior leaders and executives to shape, influence, and persuade them to achieve their objectives.
  • This position requires a minimum of 3 days a week on-site.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A terminal degree (JD, MD, PhD) or advanced degree in public policy or health sciences field and 8 years related experience
  • Key understanding of challenges across entire health spectrum - payor, provider, life sciences and public health arena

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$155,000 - $194,000 - $233,000 Annual
