Groundskeeper | Landscape Crew Member

Position Summary:

Misericordia University is seeking a dependable and motivated Landscape Crew Member / Professional to support the maintenance and appearance of campus grounds. This position focuses on lawn care, trimming, and light landscaping services while contributing to the overall safety, functionality, and aesthetics of the University’s outdoor environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform routine lawn care including mowing, edging, trimming, and fertilizing.
• Assist with landscape maintenance such as planting, pruning, mulching, and weed removal.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and small machinery used in grounds maintenance.
• Support basic tree care, including trimming, pruning, and monitoring tree health.
• Participate in snow removal operations during winter months to ensure safe campus access.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment.
• Follow all University safety protocols and report hazards or maintenance needs promptly.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Valid PA Drivers License
• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with landscaping tools and equipment.
• Experience in lawn care, landscape maintenance, gardening, or horticulture preferred.
• Ability to operate small and large machinery is required.
• Knowledge of landscaping practices including mowing, trimming, planting, and irrigation setup.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn new skills related to landscaping and outdoor maintenance.
• Prior experience is preferred

 Physical Requirements

· Ability to lift up to 50 + lbs.

· Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods.

· Ability to work in heat, cold, rain, and other outdoor conditions.
