Under general supervision, the Custodian performs a wide variety of cleaning, maintenance, and setup duties to ensure university buildings, classrooms, restrooms, offices, residence halls, and event spaces are clean, safe, sanitary, and well-maintained. Responsibilities include routine custodial work, special project cleaning, minor maintenance, and event support. This role ensures a safe and healthy environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces in classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas.
  • Empty and sanitize trash and recycling bins.
  • Maintain and restock supplies in restrooms and other facilities.
  • Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces.
  • Respond to special cleaning requests and emergencies as needed.
  • Operate and maintain custodial equipment effectively and safely.
  • Report maintenance issues or hazards to the supervisor promptly.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Assist with setup and take down for university events as required.
  • Collaborate with the custodial team to support overall operations and special projects.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to improve skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that include lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Starting Rate is $14.75
