About this role

Engage in basic electronic testing to evaluate and troubleshoot built-to-order semiconductor radiation detectors. This will involve executing procedures to measure and calculate signal continuity, contact and contact resistance, leakage current, as well as acquire amplitude signal spectra and determine optimum bias and shaping time to produce the best results for each unit.
Additional duties include recommending detector reworks, and evaluating and testing special detector builds.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Test and qualify semiconductor radiation detectors to meet product quality and delivery requirements.
  • Perform additional specialized source-based measurements for ISOCS-related products.
  • Recommend next steps based on Detector Escalation Policy.
  • Successful candidate will be able to test 4+ units per day.
  • Will be expected to evaluate and qualify all models of standard and special detectors.

 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Assemble various types of detector accessories.
  • Perform accurate cycle counting for inventory management.
  • Perform inventory transactions using SAP (ERP system).
  • Accurately record data and timekeeping.
  • Test, repair and modify preamplifiers for use with the above detectors.
  • Cross train for backup in other essential functions.
  • Liaison for external departments as instructed.

 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of analog electronics.
  • Demonstrated ability to use standard hand tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Digital Volt Meters (DVM), High Voltage power supplies, oscilloscopes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Detector Test procedures, instructions, and diagrams.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Detector dBase, SAP, and other software applications used by Detector Test Team.
  • Excellent organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Demonstrated soldering skills.
  • Advanced understanding of detector theory.
  • Under direction of manager able to assume temporary leadership.
  • Able to suggest reworks in group settings.
  • Some knowledge of Detector Assembly and Detector Fabrication.
  • Positive work ethic and works respectfully with others.
  • Strong attention to detail.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to train and lead others.
  • Troubleshooting skills and ability to mentor others.
  • Some partnering with Engineering to assist with Projects.
  • Ability to interact with customers.

 

AMOUNT OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 2 – 4 years in Detector Test Tech II position and/or demonstrated proficiency commensurate with that amount of time in the job.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates degree in electronics or related STEM field preferred, High school diploma and one year electronics certificate; or technical high school diploma.
