About this role

You will be part of MDDI’s Communications and Engagement Division that strategises, develops and drives communications and outreach plans for key areas of the Ministry’s work to engage hearts and minds for a thriving digital future.

You will work with internal and external stakeholders to plan and execute robust media comms plans to forward MDDI’s comms agenda of building a vibrant and secure digital future for Singapore.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Plan and execute a full media planning cycle, including media analysis, development of robust media plans, execution of media plans (including media engagements and event management), and evaluation of media outcomes to ensure effectiveness of media plan
  • Manage day-to-day media requests
  • Develop media materials including press releases, factsheets and talking points
  • Staff Political Office Holders for media events/engagements, including preparatory work in lead up to events and onsite/virtual staffing for events to ensure good media coverage
  • Establish good media relationships with key media contacts and identify opportunities to proactively pitch stories
  • At least 3-6 years of work experience in developing and implementing effective communications and engagement strategies, preferably with experience in media and strategic communications
  • Excellent grasp of issues, policies, and current affairs
  • Keen awareness of political sensitivities
  • Strong analytical ability and project management skills
  • Good editing, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to explain policies and technical topics in a clear and simple way for the general public
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and work independently or as part of a team

Additional Notes:

  • Prospective candidates applying for the position of Assistant Director should preferably possess experience in managing a team. The successful candidate will be required to manage a small team of officers.
  • Candidates with experience in issues management will have an added advantage.
  • Fresh graduates who possess a relevant educational background (e.g. Communications) are welcome to apply for the position of Assistant Manager.
