About the position

This is a full-time, HQ Finance position based in London, responsible for leading and managing end-to-end financial processes across designated Mindspace markets.

As a key member of the global Finance team, the Senior Controller, Markets Lead will serve as a strategic finance business partner, supporting operational and commercial decision-making with strong analytical insight.

The role requires ownership of accounting, reporting and financial controls across multiple markets, ensuring all activities are executed in full compliance with local regulations, international accounting standards and company policies.

We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented finance professional with a hands-on approach, strong business acumen and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, international and growth-oriented environment while continuously improving processes and financial performance.

Responsibilities

In general, the Senior Controller, Markets Lead is responsible for effectively managing Finance activities across multiple Mindspace markets, supporting overall business objectives and maintaining compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.

Manage Day-to-Day Finance Operations

  • Supervise invoicing and collection processes, ensuring invoicing, revenue recognition and cash collection are completed on time and resolving complex billing and debt collection issues.
  • Supervise Accounts Payable processes and ensure supplier payments and enquiries are handled promptly and in line with Mindspace’s Payment Policy.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Lead the budgeting process for each designated market, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall strategy.
  • Prepare financial forecasts and projections as required.
  • Conduct variance analysis comparing actual performance against budgets and provide recommendations for improvement.

Cash Flow Management

  • Oversee cash flow management to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs across markets.
  • Implement strategies to optimise working capital and effectively manage accounts receivable and payable.

Financial Statements & Reporting

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of consolidated financial statements for designated markets, including quarterly reporting packages and related working papers in accordance with IFRS.
  • Monitor and analyse financial performance metrics across markets and provide actionable insights.

Stakeholder Management & Finance Business Partnership

  • Analyse, report and communicate financial performance, issues and strategies to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with other departments to align financial activities with business objectives.
  • Act as a Finance Business Partner to designated markets, providing financial data, analysis and insights to support data-driven decision-making.

Internal Controls and Compliance

  • Develop and enforce internal control procedures to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits and ensure all required documentation is provided for the relevant markets.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local and international accounting standards and regulations, with particular focus on IFRS 16.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Supervise and mentor Finance teams across various markets, ensuring strong performance and professional development.

Systems and Processes

  • Identify and implement process improvements, systems and tools to enhance financial operations and reporting efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent recognised professional accounting qualification - Mandatory.
  • Big 4 background, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience -Mandatory.
  • Previous experience as a Controller or in a comparable senior finance role within an international, multi-entity organisation - Mandatory.
  • Fluent English - Mandatory.
  • Experience managing global or multi-market accounting operations – Advantage.
  • Experience acting as a Finance Business Partner to senior operational and commercial stakeholders – Advantage.
  • Strong systems and tools capabilities, including Excel / Google Sheets, SAP and FP&A systems; DataRails experience is an advantage.
  • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, IFRS and relevant accounting standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping best practices, financial controls, laws and standards.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to identify opportunities and develop and implement improvements or recommendations.
