Who We Want
Miller Industries is seeking a Material Expeditor for our brand-new facility in Waterford, Michigan. The Material Expeditor ensures production material, purchased components, and stored units move from the Waterford warehouse to the manufacturing plants in time to support scheduled work. The role actively monitors shortages, due dates, job and unit requirements, staging status, and interplant transfers. This is a hands-on position that requires safe and proficient Hi-Lo operation as an essential part of locating, staging, loading, unloading, and delivering material.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Review production priorities, material requirements, shortage reports, purchasing commitments, and warehouse availability to identify material requiring immediate action.
  • Coordinate with Buyers, Planning, Production, Shipping and Receiving, Program Management, suppliers, and transportation resources to resolve material constraints.
  • Expedite open purchase orders and supplier commitments when requested, documenting updated promise dates, quantities, shipment status, and risks.
  • Locate material within the warehouse and confirm part number, job, unit, quantity, condition, and storage location before movement.
  • Stage and transfer material and production units to the appropriate manufacturing plant or work area based on approved priorities and need dates.
  • Operate a Hi-Lo to unload, move, stage, load, and deliver material safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure all physical moves are supported by accurate labels, transfer documents, packing slips, and timely inventory transactions.
  • Identify shortages, missing material, damaged parts, incorrect quantities, and misplaced inventory; escalate issues with clear facts and recommended next actions.
  • Follow urgent material through receipt, inspection, storage, staging, transfer, and delivery to the manufacturing point of use.
  • Maintain a current expediting log or system record that identifies owner, commitment, risk, next action, and required date.
  • Support receiving and shipping activities during workload peaks, including verification, labeling, put-away, staging, and documentation.
  • Participate in material readiness reviews and communicate realistic status without overstating supplier or internal commitments.
  • Protect job and unit traceability when material is split, transferred, substituted, returned, or reallocated.
  • Support orderly warehouse storage, housekeeping, aisle control, and safe material handling practices.
  • Complete required Hi-Lo pre-use inspections and report equipment or safety concerns immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Shipping and Receiving and manufacturing operations.
What You Get Paid
The position pays a competitive hourly rate. We offer a competitive benefit package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, LTD, STD, a 401k with immediate match, 10 paid holidays, PTO, profit sharing bonus eligibility, and overtime opportunities.
