Job Description
The AGV Commissioning Engineer is responsible for executing both in-house (factory) commissioning and on-site deployment commissioning of Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) systems, ensuring a seamless transition from build to full operational readiness at customer sites.
This role ensures system configuration, calibration, testing, troubleshooting, as well as system integration with fleet management systems, site infrastructure and optimization under real conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Perform system bring-up, configuration, and validation in a controlled factory environment
Debug mechanical, electrical, and software issues prior to shipment
Configure PLCs, safety systems, and Linux-based IPCs
Set up and troubleshoot WLAN and industrial network connectivity
Execute navigation setup, including SLAM-based mapping, calibration, and optimization
Evaluate and ensure stability of LiDAR-based localization and navigation performance
Integrate and configure external I/O systems for building and process interfaces
Plan, coordinate, and independently execute installation and commissioning activities at site
Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) in alignment with customer requirements
Optimize system performance to achieve stable, production-level operation under real conditions
Train customer teams on system operation, basic troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance
Requirements
Technical Requirements
Degree or technician qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a comparable field
Strong foundation in electrical engineering, including schematics, EPLAN, I/O testing, and structured troubleshooting
Solid understanding of mechanical systems and typical failure modes in automated equipment
Hands-on experience with PLCs, industrial communication networks and Linux-based systems
Working knowledge of IT/networking fundamentals (WLAN setup, IP configuration, network diagnostics)
Familiarity with mobile robotics and navigation technologies, preferably LiDAR-based SLAM

Confident and professional communication in customer-facing environments
High level of ownership, adaptability, and organizational effectiveness in dynamic project settings
Experience (Recommended)
Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in commissioning industrial machines or automated systems
Prior experience in AGV/AMR systems, intralogistics, or mobile robotics strongly preferred
Exposure to FAT/SAT execution and customer site deployments is a plus
General Conditions
Willingness to travel domestically & internationally (could be > 50%, depending on project phase) an perform hands-on field work.
Assignments across both in-house commissioning (e.g., factory locations such as GN, GH) and customer sites worldwide
Willingness to perform hands-on field tasks, including physical activities (e.g., sensor setup, alignment work, tape/marker installation for navigation systems)
