Job Summary
Responsible for answering and directing incoming calls, providing information, and taking messages. Responsible for providing efficient and professional telephone support to students, faculty, staff, and the public. This role involves answering incoming calls, providing information, routing calls, and handling inquiries related to student services, academic support, and general college information.

Essential Functions
Promptly answering incoming calls and directing them to the appropriate department, person, or resource
Assisting callers with inquiries, providing general information about Midland College or its services, and guiding them to the necessary resources/departments
Utilizing telephone systems to manage multiple calls and ensure efficient call handling
Addressing customer concerns and ensuring a positive customer experience
Providing friendly and professional customer service to all callers
Handling multiple calls simultaneously, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining composure under pressure
Other duties as assigned
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Computer literacy to include experience working with Microsoft Office software
Knowledge of general office equipment including copier, fax machine, and multi-line telephone
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as strong organizational skills
Critical thinking skills and detail-oriented
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree in a related field
Prior clerical experience
Experience working in higher education
Experience with departmental budgets
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Experience with Jenzabar student information system software
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Typical office
Business Hours
M-Th 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. F 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
summer M-Th 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 pm
Periodic evening and weekend hours during peak periods (e.g., open enrollment, payroll)
Occasional travel (less than 10%)
Physical Demands
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time
The person in this position may need to occasionally move from office to other locations on campus
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
Use of manual dexterity
The person in this position frequently communicates with others; they must be able to exchange accurate information
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 20 pounds
Work is mostly performed indoors
Salary Range: $12.00 per hour
