POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Student Campus Operations Worker supports the Facilities Department in maintaining a safe, clean, and fully operational campus environment. This role assists with a variety of tasks across grounds, facilities, and transportation, including general maintenance, basic repairs, landscaping, and event or operational support. The position plays a key role in ensuring campus buildings, outdoor spaces, and fleet resources are well-maintained and ready to serve students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with routine maintenance tasks, including minor repairs, painting, cleaning, and basic preventative maintenance
  • Support groundskeeping operations such as mowing, trimming, trash removal, light landscaping, and general outdoor upkeep
  • Assist with campus event setup and teardown, including moving furniture, equipment, and materials
  • Perform basic inspections of facilities and grounds; identify and report maintenance, safety, or operational issues to supervisors
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper storage of work areas, tools, and equipment
  • Assist with the upkeep and cleanliness of university vehicles and support basic transportation-related needs as assigned
  • Follow all safety procedures, guidelines, and university policies to ensure a safe working environment
  • Work collaboratively with Facilities staff and other student workers to complete assigned tasks efficiently

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a current student in good standing at Mid-America Christian University
  • Demonstrates reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
  • Willingness to learn and apply basic maintenance, groundskeeping, and operational skills
  • Ability to follow directions, adhere to safety guidelines, and comply with university policies

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Previous maintenance, groundskeeping, or manual labor experience preferred, but not required

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Basic computer and mobile device proficiency required
  • Ability to accurately log time and hours worked using the ADP mobile application
  • Ability to use university systems and applications as needed for job-related tasks

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching for extended periods
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and precipitation
  • Ability to safely operate basic tools and equipment used in maintenance and groundskeeping tasks

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, depending on assigned tasks
  • Must be able to dress appropriately for varying weather conditions
  • Required to wear closed-toe shoes and appropriate work attire at all times
  • May be exposed to typical maintenance and groundskeeping conditions, including noise, dust, and outdoor elements
