Job Description:

Position Summary

The Hardware Applications Engineer will be responsible for the development, validation, and support of hardware reference designs and application solutions based on Microchip's dsPIC Digital Signal Controllers and related products. The role requires close collaboration with firmware engineers, product marketing teams, customers, and field application engineers to deliver high-quality application solutions for Motor Control, Digital Power, and Embedded Systems applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and validate hardware reference designs using Microchip products, particularly dsPIC Digital Signal Controllers.
  • Perform schematic capture, hardware bring-up, debugging, and validation activities.
  • Develop test plans and execute verification of hardware designs.
  • Support application development for Motor Control, Digital Power, and related embedded applications.
  • Create technical documentation, user guides, application notes, and design collateral.
  • Collaborate with firmware, applications, and marketing teams on product and solution development.
  • Provide technical support to customers, field application engineers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in technical trainings, seminars, customer demonstrations, and promotional activities.
  • Analyze hardware issues and implement corrective actions to ensure project success.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and engineering best practices.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Technical Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of electronic circuit design and hardware development.
  • Experience with schematic capture, hardware bring-up, debugging, and validation.
  • Familiarity with Microchip products, particularly dsPIC Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs).
  • Experience developing hardware solutions for:
    • Motor Control applications
    • Digital Power applications
    • Embedded Systems
  • Ability to develop and execute hardware test and verification plans.
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, logic analyzers, and related test instruments.
