About this role

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the reliability, safety, and performance of IMH Fragrance's liquid-filling, packaging, and facility equipment. This hands-on role performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation support, and equipment improvements that protect production uptime and product quality. The technician also manages critical spare parts, supports after-hours needs, and trains directly with machine vendors on new and evolving technology.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Maintain, diagnose, and repair fragrance and liquid-filling equipment, including fillers, crimpers, cappers, pumps, conveyors, labelers, coders, compressors, and related packaging systems.
  • Respond quickly to equipment failures, determine root causes, complete safe repairs, and communicate equipment status and recovery timing to operations leadership.
  • Perform mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, sensor, motor, and control-system troubleshooting within the technician's demonstrated training and qualifications.
  • Support equipment setup, changeovers, adjustments, line trials, installations, commissioning, and production startup.
  • Partner with production and Quality personnel to ensure repairs and adjustments protect product quality, fill accuracy, packaging integrity, and safe operation.

Preventive Maintenance & Reliability

  • Develop, execute, and document preventive-maintenance schedules for filling, packaging, utility, and facility equipment.
  • Maintain accurate service histories, inspection records, downtime information, manuals, drawings, and equipment-specific maintenance procedures.
  • Inspect equipment for wear, leaks, loose connections, guarding concerns, and other emerging failure risks before they interrupt production.
  • Recommend and implement practical improvements that increase uptime, equipment life, changeover performance, maintainability, and operator safety.
  • Use recurring-failure and downtime data to prioritize corrective actions and support continuous-improvement projects.

Parts, Inventory & Vendor Support

  • Identify, source, and order replacement parts, tools, consumables, and critical spares while balancing urgency, quality, cost, and lead time.
  • Create and maintain an organized parts library with clear part numbers, equipment associations, storage locations, minimum quantities, and reorder points.
  • Monitor parts usage and availability so critical spares are on hand for high-risk equipment and commonly occurring failures.
  • Coordinate with equipment manufacturers and service providers for technical support, repair services, warranties, upgrades, and replacement components.
  • Participate in vendor-led technical training, including travel or schedule adjustments when required, and translate learning into internal procedures and operator guidance.

Safety, Compliance & Facility Support

  • Follow and enforce lockout/tagout, electrical safety, machine guarding, PPE, chemical-handling, flammable-liquid, and safe-work requirements.
  • Maintain clean, orderly, and audit-ready maintenance workspaces, tools, parts storage, and equipment documentation.
  • Support facility maintenance needs involving utilities, compressed air, lighting, docks, doors, and other building systems as assigned.
  • Escalate safety, quality, compliance, or reliability risks promptly and stop work when conditions are unsafe.

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on maintenance experience with fragrance, cosmetics, personal-care, beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical, or comparable liquid-filling machinery.
  • Demonstrated experience performing preventive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance documentation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, pumps, motors, sensors, conveyors, and basic industrial electrical systems.
  • Experience sourcing and ordering parts and maintaining an accurate, organized spare-parts inventory or parts library.
  • Ability to read equipment manuals, diagrams, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, respond to after-hours service needs, and participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Willingness to train with machine vendors and learn the latest filling, packaging, automation, and maintenance technology.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, and work around manufacturing equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience maintaining PKB liquid-filling equipment.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
  • Experience in fragrance, cosmetics, beauty, personal care, or another GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Technical degree, industrial-maintenance certification, electrical training, or equivalent skilled-trades education.
  • Experience with PLC diagnostics, variable-frequency drives, automated controls, CMMS software, 5S, and root-cause analysis.

Success in This Role

  • Reliable equipment uptime and timely response to production interruptions
  • Consistent completion of preventive-maintenance work and documentation
  • Reduced repeat failures and improved speed and quality of repairs
  • Accurate, organized, and appropriately stocked critical-parts inventory
  • Strong partnership with production teams, equipment vendors, and operations leadership
