Manager, Shop Operations - Motion Solutions
About this role
Leads the day-to-day operations of the Motion Solutions shop, overseeing remanufacturing, repair, and light manufacturing activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with customer expectations. This role coordinates workflow, assigns priorities, monitors performance, and resolves routine operational issues within established processes and policies. Working closely with Customer Service, Engineering, Project Management, Sales, and Branch Leadership, the manager supports execution of shop objectives, drives service quality, and contributes to continuous improvement across the operation.
Salary: $70K - $90K Annually | DOE
Primary Duties:
- Manage and coordinate the daily flow of work through the shop, assigning work based on project requirements, technician skill, and resource availability.
- Lead daily production planning with Project Management, Engineering, and other partners to establish priorities, maintain schedules, and ensure timely completion of customer work.
- Serve as a key point of coordination between shop employees and internal or external customers to resolve issues, communicate status, and support a high level of service.
- Monitor shop performance, productivity, quality, and safety expectations; recommend and implement process improvements within established guidelines.
- Supervise, train, and develop shop employees, including providing day-to-day direction, addressing routine performance or personnel issues, and partnering with branch leadership and Human Resources as needed.
- Support department goals by tracking work progress, maintaining required documentation, and helping manage equipment maintenance, shop resources, and budget-related activities within assigned scope.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and safety requirements, including maintaining a clean and organized work environment and delivering required safety training.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support shop operations, customer commitments, and business needs.

Education and Work Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree, technical training, or coursework in manufacturing, industrial operations, maintenance, or a related field preferred.
- Typically requires progressive experience in shop, service, manufacturing, or repair operations, including experience coordinating work, guiding employees, or leading day-to-day activities.
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate practical knowledge of shop operations, workflow scheduling, safety practices, and customer service.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Working knowledge of shop operations, repair or manufacturing processes, and standard safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic or electrical schematics, drawings, and job specifications related to the shop’s work.
- Ability to apply established policies, procedures, and operational guidelines to resolve day-to-day issues and keep work progressing on schedule.
- Strong communication, team leadership, and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and with a wide range of employees and customers.
- Ability to prioritize work, coordinate resources, monitor performance, and support employees in meeting quality, productivity, and service expectations.
- Basic knowledge of shop tools, equipment, and machinery used in the work area, along with the ability to maintain equipment and company assets responsibly.
- Ability to complete required training and develop working knowledge of MFCP products, services, and the industries served.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The essential functions of this position will require the employee to perform the following physical activities:
- Work environment may vary including warehouse containing moving equipment, fluctuating temperature and inventory in various storage arrangements, office work, manufacturing, machine shops, agricultural operations, and any other specific business operations of current or potential customers.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
- Combination of stooping, reaching above shoulder level, pushing, pulling, constantly walking/standing on cement flooring, and climbing ladders as needed.
- The physical demands and work environment reflected are representative of those encountered by employees when performing the essential job functions.
- Must be physically present in the office to perform her job functions.
- Ability to travel up to 10% by land or air transportation.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
