About this role

The Industrial Counter Sales Associate supports daily branch operations by providing exceptional customer service, processing counter and phone/electronic sales, handling inventory, and preparing products for delivery or shipment. This role operates in a fast-paced, team-oriented industrial distribution environment.

Salary: $21 - $25 Hourly

Primary:

  • Deliver high-quality customer service while adhering to company ethics and standards.
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries, orders, and complaints using effective problem-solving skills.
  • Provide accurate product and technical information to support customer needs.
  • Process sales transactions and maintain accurate documentation and records.
  • Estimate delivery timelines based on inventory levels, supplier availability, and production schedules.
  • Conduct outbound follow-ups with potential and existing customers via phone and email.
  • Receive, inspect, and stock incoming products; ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Pick, package, stage, and ship products using company-approved methods and carriers.
  • Support inventory management, including cycle counts and quality control.
  • Perform assembly and light fabrication work, including hose building and operation of related equipment.
  • Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment in compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Participate in required training and collaborate with internal teams as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education & Work Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in industrial distribution or hydraulic hose and fittings preferred (Parker Hannifin experience a plus).
  • Mechanical aptitude and forklift certification preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities can be achieved through a combination of education and experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  • Good customer service and communication skills are required.
  • Basic computer skills including use of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), with a willingness to learn new software programs. Experience with Epicor Prophet 21 a plus.
  • The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide required.
  • Detail oriented with solid organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must be a good listener with above average reasoning ability and make minimal mistakes.
  • Must be a good learner who can assimilate product knowledge and skills as they are presented.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and customer service
  • Must be able to work with a wide variety of people and personalities.

 

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • The essential functions of this position will require the employee to perform the following physical activities:
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook); Epicor Prophet 21 experience a plus.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to learn and apply product knowledge effectively.
  • Comfortable with working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with diverse teams.
  • Regular, on‑site attendance required.
