Introduction

We are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to support supplier quality assurance on a project basis. In this role, you will monitor supplier quality performance and contribute to continuous improvement for a sustainable and reliable supply chain. You will report to the MNG Quality Manager.

You will join quality team and work with Procurement, Project Management, Competence Center Quality and Engineering, and external suppliers.

 

What you’ll do

  • Work on supplier quality assurance on project basis at supplier for Metso interests and customer satisfaction. Monitor supplier quality performance and contribute on supplier continuous improvement for sustainable and reliable supply chain to Metso.
  • Analyzes suppliers' capacity and capabilities to meet quality requirements specified in specifications, drawings, contract files, and so on.
  • Conducts project kick-off meeting with suppliers. Clarifies specifications and documents ensuring compliance with specifications and drawings.
  • Consults with Engineering, Project Management, Procurement for technical questions.
  • Supervises suppliers' manufacturing process. Identifies quality non-conformance. Communicates and clarifies acceptable rework instructions and communicates with instructions and follows up implementation of corrective actions required and defined.
  • Participate in physical inspection activities in manufacturing processes at suppliers to ensure compliance with quality requirements. Communication process inspection techniques for suppliers.
  • Assists suppliers with personnel & procedure qualifications, manufacturing procedure, quality package preparation, and so on.
  • Conducts review and sign-off of supplier personnel and procedure qualifications, reports, documents and final quality packages.
  • Maintains the use of quality modules in Jagger Direct at responsible suppliers to deal with Exceptional Approval, Request for Inspection, Goods Movement, Customer Complaint.
  • Conducts periodic supplier quality audit, supplier sustainability internal audit, supplier quality performance review and evaluation.
  • Manages supplier's continuous improvement actions. Recommend changes in manufacturing processes and supplier systems to improve product quality.
  • Develops new supplier and/or new product for the demand from Competence Centers and or Procurement. Provides source inspection report, project status report whenever needed and required.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties and/or other special projects as required. Travel (both domestic and international) will be required as needed.


What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Strong knowledge in foundry/casting is a must.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in foundry, preferably working experience in heavy equipment manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of quality inspection and/or supplier quality management will be a plus.
  • Be capable of (1) Casting & machining inspection (2) NDT interpretation (3) Welding documentation (WPS&PQR) review and approval per welding code; (4) Reviewing and approving various Material Test Reports; (5) Reading and understanding mechanical engineering drawings and specifications. (6) Writing detailed inspection reports utilizing the English language.
