Job Summary
The Immigrant Youth Transition Specialist is responsible for coordinating, creating, and implementing supports for recently arrived immigrant high school students and their families. This position requires coordinating resources and partnerships in conjunction with diverse community stakeholders and providing direct service to high school EL students and their families.
What you will do
- Conduct on-boarding and orientation for recently arrived immigrant high school students.
- Build positive relationships between newly arriving high school students and school staff to ease their transition into the school system.
- Conduct presentations and workshops to newly arriving students on key components of their responsibilities in school; such as attendance, school policies, academic expectations, etc.
- Coordinate with other support services, such as: social workers, counselors, translators, and other personnel to support targeted students.
- Conduct home visits as needed.
- Flexible schedule required; some responsibilities will take place on nights and weekends.
- Performs other duties or tasks as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the responsibilities in this job classification.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in education, counseling, social work, or another relevant field Required
Experience Qualifications
- Experience working with newly arriving immigrant youth and their families Required
Skills and Abilities
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required
