The CNC Operator is responsible for operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining CNC milling machines, production equipment, and robotic systems. This role requires a balance of hands-on technical expertise. The specialist will also support inventory management, safety compliance, and continuous process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Mill Operation & Production Support
- Operate all robots and CNC milling machines in coordination with programmers.
- Load, calibrate, and inspect plugs and parts to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Utilize hand tools, rollers, fiberglass chop guns, and spray putty guns.
Maintenance & Equipment Repair
- Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency.
- Ensure the facility and production equipment remain fully operational.
Inventory & Procurement
- Maintain an inventory of parts and supplies, ensuring availability for scheduled repairs.
- Obtain quotes, manage purchase orders, and work with vendors for parts procurement.
- Inspect shipments for accuracy and damage, storing parts in designated areas.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a safe work environment, enforcing OSHA and company safety protocols.
- Perform equipment inspections and quality checks to ensure production standards.
- Adhere to environmental and workplace safety regulations, including the use of PPE.
Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Implement efficiency improvements in milling, sanding, and maintenance processes.
- Work closely with the engineering and production teams to optimize machine performance.
- Participate in strategic facility planning and operational enhancements.
Requirements
Technical & Mechanical Expertise
- 5+ years in a manufacturing/industrial setting, with CNC machine experience.
- Knowledge of FRP, composites, robotics, and automated production systems.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and facility management.
- Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and safety regulations.
Operational & Safety Knowledge
- Understanding of OSHA regulations and plant health/safety standards.
- Ability to operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and safety equipment.
- Experience with forklifts, hoists, and material handling equipment.

- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Excellent time management, multitasking, and teamwork.
- Attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safety.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Non-climate-controlled environment (exposure to heat, cold, and airborne particles).
- Extended periods of standing, bending, and repetitive motions.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs and climbing in/out of machinery as required.
- Ability to wear PPE, including respirators, gloves, and safety glasses.
- 10% travel required for off-site maintenance or corporate needs.
