Position Overview

Reporting to the Senior Sales Director, Retail, this individual managers some of the company's key Retail Accounts including the Costco portfolio of accounts, and Dick's sporting Goods while also looking for new growth opportunities. The role comes with CSR support that will handle order entry, inventory, maintenance, advance shipping notifications, customer service, mis-shipments, returns and liaising with the Finance Team for any invoicing/accounting issues specific to the Account Manager's key accounts.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Meet and exceed annual sales targets.
  • Optimize placement and increase sales of Merrithew™ brands on specified Retail partner E-Commerce platforms
  • Engage with current buyers to gain a better understanding of their business, unique account-specific sales opportunities, how they communicate with their customers and to find any cross-channel sales opportunities
  • Work with Senior Sales Director on annual projections, by account, including growth strategy
  • Analyze sell thru of product assortment, pull monthly sales reports and oversee inventory management, where necessary
  • Visit key buyers where and when appropriate
  • Work to secure in-store product placement, where appropriate
  • Create and implement monthly and event-specific promotions for all in-store and E-Commerce partners
  • Notify partners of all new releases and discontinued items, with admin support
  • Responsible for the Sales, growth, order entry, processing returns and credit memos for select occasional direct Retail accounts as listed in the CSR Account Listing Master file
  • Participate in best-practices training programs offered by vendor partners including off site training or webinars
  • Work with Senior Sales Director to ensure a smooth introduction and set-up of new accounts to the functional teams – like Shipping, Operations or Finance - or to review major upcoming account-specific promotions
  • Update Senior Sales Director on any issues with account activity so they may be escalated to internal key stakeholders in IT, shipping, inventory management and finance where and when necessary
  • Keep up-to-date account/lead information in CRM
  • Follow up on leads assigned in CRM and those that are sent via retail @merrithew
  • Participate in tradeshows as requested and follow up with leads where required
  • Other tasks as required


Business Development:

  • Conduct research to determine new channel-specific opportunities and visit and/or contact where appropriate, to develop new business
  • Assist with deal memos, contract negotiations, pricing, EDI set up, shipping and internal logistical issues that allow us to launch new accounts
  • Assist with market research and competitive data analysis

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education and 2 years of sales, including E-Commerce/ online sales and customer service experience with key Retail accounts.
  • Sales experience in the fitness industry is an asset.
  • Proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets
  • Knowledge of CRM, SAGE
  • Detail-oriented with excellent accuracy
  • Superior organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Ability to work well under pressure, demonstrating a sense of urgency
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written
  • Intermediate MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and presentation proficiency
  • Additional languages, spoken and written, are an asset.
