Casual Worker Individual (Enumerator)
About this role
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct data collection for (Beneficiary registration and verification, Baseline, midline, and endline surveys, post-distribution monitoring, Activity monitoring, or any other program-related assessments.
- Support the MEL team in preparing, testing, and uploading digital data collection tools
- Ensure informed consent is obtained from all respondents before interviews
- Conduct interviews and focus group discussions in a clear, accurate, and neutral manner
- Review completed questionnaires for accuracy, consistency, and completeness before submission
- Upload the collected data to the designated server within agreed timelines
- Assist in basic data cleaning and verification
- Report field challenges, security issues, or inconsistencies to the supervisor immediately
- Represent Mercy Corps professionally when interacting with community members, partners, and local authorities
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, or other relevant fields
Years of Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in data collection for humanitarian or development projects, preferably in livelihoods, market systems, or disaster risk reduction contexts
- Familiarity with mobile data collection platforms such as ODK, ONA, CommCare, or Kobo
Management & Collaboration
- Report directly to the designated MEL staff at Mercy Corps
- Work closely with program technical teams and other relevant staff involved in program implementation
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, and impartiality in all program-related activities
Renumeration:
This is a casual/daily wage position and not a regular employment opportunity. Successful applicants will be included in Mercy Corps' pool of enumerators for Herat Province. Once selected, enumerators will be deployed to the field on an as-needed basis. Remuneration will be based on the actual days or assignments worked in the field, rather than a fixed monthly salary.
