About this role

The School of Physician Assistant Studies – MPAS Manchester/Worcester Program seeks an adjunct faculty member to deliver high quality learning experiences and education for students in the Masters of Physician Assistant Studies Program. The selected candidate will work primarily in a remote capacity, with responsibilities centered on academic mentoring, early identification of student challenges, and facilitation of student support strategies to promote progression and professional development. This role supports graduate-level PA students across didactic semesters in the first year of the program.

  • Conducts prompt analysis and outreach to students to provide individualized academic coaching, mentoring, interventions, and success planning for PA students.
  • Monitors academic performance and implements early intervention strategies for at-risk learners.
  • Conducts student success meetings both remotely and in person as needed.
  • Collaborates with other members of the Student Success Team.
  • Collaborates with course coordinators and faculty to identify and support student learning needs.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation of student meetings, progress, and outcomes.
  • Coordinates with University student support services, including ADA compliance, counseling, and academic resource offices.
  • Assists in interventions, remediation plan development, implementation, and follow-up.
  • Reports trends, student needs, and outcomes to the Program Director and Director of Didactic Education.
  • Provides service to the program, including ongoing development of student support tools and processes.
  • Uses the University’s learning management system and approved communication tools to support student engagement.
  • Engage in weekly meetings with student success rounds team.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Program Director
Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies or a related healthcare field
  • For PAs, current NCCPA certification and eligibility for state licensure
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in health care
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience at the college/university level, preferably in PA education
  • Commitment to graduate and professional education and student success
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff, alumni, and external constituents, including healthcare industry professionals)
  • Must be able to use technology for videoconferencing, documentation, and communication

Education and/or Work Experience Preferred:

  • Experience in academic coaching, advising, and remediation with physician assistant students
  • Experience in best practice guidelines in graduate healthcare education
  • Experience teaching, mentoring, or advising students at a graduate level
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
