We are seeking an experienced Building Designer to join our team. This role offers a diverse workload across residential, commercial and industrial projects, with the opportunity to combine technical design expertise, site inspections and stakeholder engagement to deliver quality outcomes. 

 

About the Role

As a Building Designer, you will be responsible for assessing existing and damaged buildings, developing repair and remediation solutions, preparing compliant design documentation and providing technical advice throughout the project lifecycle.

Working closely with a range of stakeholders, you will contribute to projects from initial assessment through to design delivery, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards and industry best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare building designs and documentation using AutoCAD
  • Develop scopes of work for repair, remediation and construction projects
  • Conduct site inspections and building assessments
  • Undertake building and site measurements using laser measuring devices
  • Design residential timber-framed structures in accordance with Australian Standards
  • Provide practical and cost-effective repair and remediation solutions
  • Prepare documentation for planning, approvals and construction purposes
  • Liaise with property owners, insurers, builders, engineers, certifiers and councils
  • Ensure compliance with the NCC, BCA, Australian Standards and local authority requirements
  • Manage multiple projects while maintaining quality and delivery timeframes 

 

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Diploma or Degree in Building Design, Construction, Architecture, Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a building design or building consultancy role
  • Strong AutoCAD skills
  • Solid understanding of building construction methods, timber framing and fire-rated construction
  • Sound knowledge of the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards
  • Experience preparing design documentation, scopes of work and technical reports
  • Strong project management, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Residential building design experience (essential)
  • Commercial and industrial project exposure (desirable)
  • Insurance building assessment experience (highly regarded)
