The Role
The Director of Broker Channel Development is accountable for advancing MCAP’s broker channel strategy across Single Family brands by developing and executing initiatives that strengthen MCAP’s market position, improve sales effectiveness, enhance the broker experience, and support profitable growth. The role acts as a strategic contributor within Broker Intelligence & Engagement, translating data and sales intelligence into practical channel strategies, business cases, programs, communications, and platform enhancements.
This role works cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Product, Operations, IT, Credit, Underwriting, Compliance, and other internal partners to bring broker-channel priorities from concept through implementation. The position does not have direct people-management responsibility; however, it is expected to provide senior-level influence, direction, governance, and subject-matter leadership across initiatives that impact brokers, sales teams, business processes, broker-facing platforms, and channel performance.
Broker Channel Strategy and Growth
- Identify opportunities and lead the development and ongoing evolution of MCAP’s broker channel strategy across Single Family brands, ensuring alignment with enterprise growth objectives, product priorities, and multi-brand positioning.
- Champion direction for broker engagement, channel optimization, and value proposition development, with accountability for driving measurable improvements in market share, broker relationships, and profitable volume growth.
- Proactively identify and prioritize strategic growth opportunities across the broker channel, leveraging market intelligence, competitive insights, and internal performance data to inform long-term direction and investment decisions.
Special Projects and Emerging Business Needs
- Lead special projects and targeted initiatives that address changing internal priorities, broker channel requirements, market conditions, competitive pressures, regulatory considerations, and evolving business needs.
- Define project objectives, coordinate cross-functional input, assess impacts, develop recommendations, and support timely execution of solutions that strengthen MCAP’s broker channel effectiveness and responsiveness.
- Provide leadership across cross-functional teams to assess business impacts, define strategic options, and drive decision-making on priority initiatives, ensuring timely and effective execution.
- Anticipate emerging risks and opportunities within the broker channel and proactively initiate strategic responses that enhance organizational agility, resilience, and market positioning.
Channel Intelligence, Analytics and Performance Insights
- Use broker, market, competitive, sales, and program performance data to identify trends, risks, gaps, and growth opportunities.
- Define reporting requirements, interpret performance results, develop recommendations, and provide senior stakeholders with insights that support strategic planning, channel prioritization, and management decision-making.
Business Case Development and Initiative Execution
- Translate strategic opportunities into well-defined business cases, recommendations, implementation plans, and performance measures.
- Coordinate input from impacted business units, assess financial and non-financial benefits, identify risks and mitigants, and support the progression of approved initiatives from concept through launch and post-implementation evaluation.
Broker Platforms, Processes and Cross-Functional Leadership
- Represent broker channel needs in platform, process, CRM, portal, reporting, and enterprise initiatives
- Provide senior-level direction to cross-functional partners, ensure broker and sales requirements are understood, identify process improvement opportunities, and support scalable, compliant, and efficient execution across MCAP’s broker ecosystem.
- Drive continuous improvement and transformation of broker channel processes and platforms, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and a differentiated broker experience that supports long-term growth.
What You Bring To The Team
- Broad and practical knowledge of the Canadian mortgage broker channel, mortgage lending, broker relationships, sales enablement, and multi-brand channel execution.
- Experience translating market, broker, sales, and performance insights into business recommendations, programs, communications, and execution plans.
- Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives from concept through implementation in a matrix environment.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders, external partners, brokers, sales teams, and business units to influence outcomes and resolve business issues.
- Demonstrated ability to develop business cases, evaluate performance, manage risks, and recommend actions that support profitable growth and channel effectiveness.
- Strong strategic thinking and business judgment, with the ability to connect market trends, broker feedback, sales performance, and MCAP priorities into actionable plans.
- Advanced analytical skills, including the ability to interpret sales, broker, program, and market data and convert insights into recommendations, reporting, and performance measures.
- Strong cross-functional leadership, stakeholder management, negotiation, facilitation, and influencing skills in a matrix environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level recommendations, business cases, presentations, and implementation updates.
- Strong planning, project execution, prioritization, and risk management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and competing deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, reporting and dashboard outputs, CRM concepts.
- Results-oriented, collaborative, resourceful, and able to operate with sound judgment, discretion, and accountability in a senior individual-contributor capacity.
- College or university degree in business, finance, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent business experience.
