Founded in 1985, Portland Tugboat is New England’s premier tugboat company, providing the most powerful fleet of tugs in the region. Handling a wide range of cargo, Portland Tugboat has a distinguished record of providing safe and efficient ship docking and general harbor assist services in the port, covering the areas of Portland Harbor, Casco Bay, and Cousin's Island on Hussey Sound.

Captain Brian J. Fournier is the President of Portland Tugboat and a state-licensed docking pilot. He has docked ships on the East, West, and Gulf Coasts, and has led tractor-tug training exercises with SeaRiver Maritime in San Francisco and Portland Pipeline in Maine. He has been in the maritime industry since 1980's. 

Portland Tugboat is seeking highly qualified and skilled Office Manager to join their team.   Description of duties and responsibilities are outlined below: 

Office Manager:

Reports to:

  • The Office Manager is directly responsible and accountable to the President of Portland Tugboat.
     

Supervises:

  • Other office employees
     

Description of Duties:

The Office Manager position consists of secretarial work and responsibilities that supports the port managers.

  • Must insure timely and accurate submission of all required expense reports and approved invoices.
  • Oversees the weekly preparation of timesheets, distributes the checks and coordinates any corrections with the Payroll Department.
  • Maintains and prepares accounting reports regarding the Petty Cash account.
  • Coordinates all claims for health insurance and personal injury to the corporate office. 
  • Makes all travel and event arrangements as necessary.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of two years in a similar position.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to operate a computer terminal.
  • The ability to operate telephones and standard office equipment.

  • Professional Exempt
