Staff Software Engineer, AI/ML

Maven Clinic is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, AI/ML to join our foundational AI/ML team. This product-minded engineer will design, build, and deploy end-to-end AI-powered solutions that impact the entire product suite, helping Maven Clinic become an AI-native organization.

What youll do

• Design, build, and deploy end-to-end AI-powered solutions using models like OpenAI and orchestration techniques such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and agents.
• Build AI initiatives including chatbot, recommendation engine, and search functionalities.
• Develop robust ML pipelines and platform components for experimentation, fine-tuning, and deployment with a focus on scalability, safety, and performance.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, data, and engineering teams to translate healthcare data into actionable insights and intelligent workflows.
• Drive architecture discussions and technical decision-making across AI/ML systems, promoting best practices.

What Maven Clinic is looking for

• 6+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering roles.
• Experience in at least one AI product area: Chatbots, Recommendation Engines, or other Gen AI applications.
• Experience as a full-stack software engineer with a strong back-end lean, or an ML engineer with end-to-end AI/ML product experience.
• Experience end-to-end on the ML pipeline (data ingestion, structuring, analysis, training).
• Proficiency in Python for software and ML development.
• Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience shipping a product or feature from concept to launch (0 to 1).
• Strong CS fundamentals.
• Must be located in San Francisco, Seattle, or New York City.
• Experience with LLMs, RAG, and agent frameworks in production.
