Production Material Blender Operator - 2nd Shift

The Production Material Blender Operator manages raw material preparation, blending, inventory, and delivery to the production floor. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate material mixes, minimizing waste, ensuring equipment cleanliness, and communicating effectively with production personnel to meet safety, quality, and production objectives.

The pay rate for this role is $22.65 per hour.

The schedule for this role is Monday- Friday 3pm-11pm.

Responsibilities

  • Must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to satisfactorily perform all Machine Operator and Grinder Room Operator duties and responsibilities
  • Will provide breaks for and fill in as Production / Grinder Room Operator as required.
  • Ensure the correct material (e.g. resin, regrind, PCR, color) is flowing to the operating blow mold machines based off the Production Supervisor direction and Production Schedule
  • Ensure the material mix is correct for each operating blow mold machine by completing the Daily Blender Setting sheet at the beginning of each shift
  • Complete the Material Blender Daily Checklist ensuring Safety, security, operation. and cleanliness of the blender equipment and work area
  • Clean system filters each shift
    • Screens at blenders
    • Baghouse socks
    • Extruder hopper screens
  • Ensure the correct raw material (e.g. resin, regrind, PCR, color) is available for Production, review with Production Supervisor for ordering
  • Perform color changes efficiently and ensure proper color cleanout to minimize color contamination scrap
  • Weigh and date color after use, prior to returning it to stock
  • Weigh and label all regrind super sacks and gaylords
    • Color, weight, date, initials
    • Red tag and isolate if contaminated
  • Breakdown and stack empty gaylords and pallets, dispose of as required
  • Pass area and process information to oncoming shift Material Blender Operator
  • Advise the Production Supervisor of progress and all issues that arise concerning the process and equipment.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental goals.
  • Clean out the tail bins one hour after the drums have been held (dark to light), then begin reintroducing the tails back into the process.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working in a Manufacturing Environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Understand plant safety guidelines and pass all required safety training
  • Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions
  • Troubleshoot problems and report issues
  • Must work well in team environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Plant facility runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week consistently, excluding designated holidays or prearranged shut down.  
  • Line production is constant flow approximately 35 to 60 drums an hour.  
  • Ability to be on feet for long periods of time, 8-12 hours per scheduled shift.
  • Walking during this standing time in work cell, continuous rotation between mold machine, tester machine, cutter machine and grinder machine. 
  • Repetitive turning & twisting during the leak testing steps of production. 
  • Reaching above shoulders, hand and wrist repetitive simple grasping to pick up drum, flip drum to put it on the cutter machine, and drum lid assembly.  
  • Usage of lid assembly closure bar and cutting knife to complete drum manufacturing process.
  • Use of hands and fingers to perform job function
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend and climb, minimal, only as needed.  
  • Ability to lift as needed up to 35lbs during scheduled shift
    • Ability to lift consistently up to 20lbs for full shift to move drum through and complete manufacturing process.
  • The work environment is inside, however not temperature controlled.  Exposed to both heat and cold depending on the daily weather conditions outside, and plastic mold machine station working at.  
  • Ability to wear company required personal protective equipment; safety glasses, earplugs, steel toe/composite safety shoes, cut resistant gloves, and any other necessary item based on assigned task.
