DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS

MATERNITY CARE COALITION (MCC)



The Director of Marketing and Communications will play a key role in the alignment with MCC’s core values and strategic priorities, reporting to the Senior Director of Communications, Marketing, and Public Relations. The Director of Marketing and Communications will develop and lead strategic marketing and communication plans for the organization with the goal of increasing brand awareness from community stakeholders, including prospective and current: clients, funders, partners, providers, donors, and volunteers. This position directs the efforts of marketing staff and coordinates, at the strategic and tactical levels, with various departments within MCC.

Maternity Care Coalition (MCC) is a community-based nonprofit organization serving Pennsylvania and Delaware with over four decades of commitment to improving maternal and child health and early care and education. MCC’s mission is to improve the health and well-being of pregnant women and parenting families and enhance school readiness for children 0—3. What You Will Do


Leadership and Management 


  • Oversee the Marketing and Communication Coordinator as well as relevant marketing consultant(s) and volunteers
  • Sets clear performance expectations through frequent feedback, mentoring, coaching, and ensuring open communication in team building that embrace and optimize the team’s strengths and diversity
  • Work closely with MCC staff across departments to manage interdepartmental projects, and serve as a member of cross-departmental agency teams to provide creative input and advice on the communications and marketing aspects of MCC’s programs, services, and policy and advocacy work
  • Manage administrative responsibilities involved in keeping the department running smoothly and in coordination with the rest of the organization, including credit card reconciliation, invoice processing, and vendor relationship management.
  • Keep track of and assist in managing department calendars, including project calendars and campaign schedules.

General/Evergreen Agency Marketing


  • Structures and implements marketing strategies to:
    • Build awareness of MCC and its programs and services
    • Publicize accomplishments and position MCC as a thought leader in the field of maternal health within the broader community
    • Advance and protect MCC’s identity and image
  • Evaluates strategies for new marketing and outreach opportunities, ensuring alignment with strategic growth priorities and use of data and analytics, KPIs, and ROI to drive strategy.
  • Creates and maintains evergreen agency promotional and other marketing materials, including brand templates and standards for staff and external use.
  • Oversee contractors and vendors used in client- or internal-facing brand and marketing projects.

 

Digital Marketing


  • Leads creation of innovative and creative marketing collateral, including but not limited to digital ads, social media campaigns, blogs, and emails.
  • Collaborate on agency social media strategy; oversee maintenance of social media accounts.
  • Maintain and update content on website in accordance with approved agency external language and other promotional materials; support implementation of larger-scale website updates.

Program Promotion 


  • Leads creation of innovative and creative marketing collateral, including but not limited to mailers, advertisements, postcards, flyers, and brochures.
  • Implements, creates, and oversees marketing strategy for grant-funded initiatives and programs. Project manages timelines and budgets, reporting as needed, and interdepartmental collaboration. 
  • Creates and implements project timelines for agency-wide Marketing projects and oversees project timelines managed by direct reports.

 

Fundraising and Event Support


  • Supports fundraising activities by partnering with the Development and Grants teams 
  • Supports event planning and promotion through the production of print and promotional materials.

 

Supporting Responsibilities


  • Serve as support staff for MCC’s External Affairs Committee. 
  • Commit to understanding and prioritizing MCC’s diversity, equity, inclusion and justice practices.
  • Research and maintain knowledge of industry trends. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Experience executing large-scale agency pieces such as an Annual Report 
  • Excellent skills in communications, project management, and administration, including the ability to set priorities, handle multiple tasks, and manage time effectively. 
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups, independently, and as an effective team member. 
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines. 
  • Computer competency in word processing, preferably Microsoft Office Suite products, as well as experience with Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. 
  • Operate related office equipment and use necessary tools. Regular keyboarding and computer use.
  • Although work is primarily indoors, you will be required to travel to community locations.
  • Position may require occasional trips to attend conferences, seminars, and meetings. 
  • May require working non-traditional hours for evening meetings and weekend events. 

 

Qualifications


Experience, Education, and Licensure


  • A minimum of five years of related work experience in marketing and communications, preferably in the nonprofit sector
  • A minimum of two years of supervisory experience 
  • Knowledge of the Philadelphia region and relevant health partners and players is desirable 
  • BS/BA or equivalent lived or professional experience

Competitive Salaries


  • Anticipated Hiring Salary; $68,778.84 based on qualifications and experience.
  • Salary Range; $68,250.00 - $84,000.00; Employees may become eligible for compensation increases within the salary range over time, consistent with performance, market conditions, internal equity, and business needs.
