Job Summary
Responsible for the operation and maintenance of a high-pressure heating plant. Performs repairs to boilers and reassembles if required. Repairs pipes, paints and removes equipment for repair or replacement, as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma Engineering required
Massachusetts Department of Fire Service 3rd Class Engineer required
Massachusetts Department of Public Safety and Inspections Division Hoisting Engineer preferred
Engineering experience 2-3 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must possess the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and select a course of action regarding equipment failures and repair.
Knowledgeable in general engineering principles and practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills both written and oral.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
Strong mathematical and planning skills.
Additional Job Details (if applicable)
Essential Functions:
Maintain, operate, repair and clean power plant equipment.
Observe the operation of the plant and make necessary adjustments.
Respond to emergencies and equipment breakdown.
Read meters and gauges at specified intervals to insure proper temperature, pressure, water levels, etc.
Keep power plant logs by recording readings, steam and power generated, fuel usage, maintenance performed and similar data to keep accurate records.
Responsible for testing boiler water and returns.
Add chemicals when necessary for proper mix to insure correct balance.
Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all policies and standards.
