Engineer - Research and Development
Based at MAS Capital - Intimates, Rathmalana
We are seeking an innovative and technically driven individual to support the identification, development, and implementation of new technologies, materials, and product solutions. The role focuses on research, prototyping, technology exploration, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver innovative, commercially viable, and sustainable solutions that contribute to organizational growth and competitive advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development of virtual and physical prototypes independently and in collaboration with external partners to evaluate new concepts and innovation opportunities.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies, materials, and processes to identify opportunities for innovation and business growth.
- Analyze technical requirements for new projects and growth platforms and develop innovative solutions to address technological challenges.
- Identify, assess, and engage with technology partners, suppliers, and research institutions to support innovation initiatives and collaborative projects.
- Develop and present technology proposals, business cases, and value propositions to support investment and implementation decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Technical, Innovation, Quality, Industrial Engineering, Automation, and Production teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Conduct experiments, trials, and testing activities to validate new technologies, materials, and development concepts.
- Monitor project progress, communicate outcomes, and ensure timely delivery of R&D initiatives.
- Support continuous improvement, sustainability, and innovation programs within the organization.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, governance requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical & Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Textile Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 1-2 years of experience in Research & Development, Product Development, Innovation, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of product development, prototyping, testing, and validation methodologies.
- Understanding of materials, manufacturing technologies, and process improvement techniques.
- Project management and stakeholder coordination capabilities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
- Curiosity, creativity, and a passion for technology and innovation.
