Summary:

The Senior Analyst, Payroll serves as a key member of the Payroll team, supporting accurate and compliant payroll operations while leading strategic payroll initiatives. This role partners closely with Payroll, HR, Finance, Legal, Labor Relations, and Operations to support payroll processing, acquisitions, union payroll administration, compliance, audits, system enhancements, and process improvements. The position plays an integral role in managing union payroll activities, including contract interpretation, remittance processing, and the monthly reconciliation of union-related deductions, employer contributions, and payments.

  • Support end-to-end payroll processing activities as needed, ensuring timely and accurate payroll execution
  • Review and audit payroll inputs, calculations, and outputs for compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Research and resolve complex payroll issues related to earnings, taxes, deductions, garnishments, and timekeeping
  • Serve as an escalation point for payroll inquiries from employees, managers, and HR partners
  • Assist with quarter-end and year-end payroll activities, including tax reconciliations and reporting.
  • Support payroll-related due diligence activities for Mandamp;As, including the migration and integration of acquired employee populations into Workday payroll and related systems.
  • Evaluate payroll practices, earnings, deductions, and tax configurations during acquisition onboarding
  • Partner with Labor Relations and HR teams to support collective bargaining agreement implementations and updates
  • Prepare, review and submit union remittance payments accurately and timely
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of union-related payroll deductions, employer contributions, and remittance payments to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Research and resolve remittance discrepancies, contribution variances, and union payroll exceptions
  • Monitor compliance with collective bargaining agreements and applicable regulatory requirements, identifying opportunities to improve payroll accuracy, controls and efficiency
  • Analyze payroll data, trends, and metrics to identify risks, opportunities, and operational improvements
  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour regulations, payroll tax requirements, and company policies
  • Support internal and external audits and implement corrective actions when necessary
  • Support automation initiatives and continuous improvement opportunities.

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred

  • 5-8+ years of progressive payroll experience, including payroll processing, compliance, and payroll systems

  • Experience supporting acquisitions, payroll integrations, or organizational transitions preferred
  • Experience administering union payroll and interpreting collective bargaining agreements strongly preferred
  • Experience with Workday Payroll required or strongly preferred
  • Multi-state payroll experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of payroll regulations, taxation, wage and hour laws, and payroll accounting
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Advanced Excel and reporting capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
