About the Corporate Affairs Function at Mars Petcare India
The Corporate Affairs department at Mars Petcare India is the strategic custodian of our corporate reputation, brand trust, and societal impact. This function operates across two critical pillars to build strong, mutually beneficial relationships with external and internal stakeholders:
Public Affairs (PA): Focuses on government relations, policy advocacy, regulatory landscapes, and high-level stakeholder engagement. PA ensures our operations align with local regulations and national developmental goals while facilitating critical dialogues between our senior leadership and regulatory bodies. Public Relations (PR): Manages brand reputation, media relations, crisis management, internal communications, and purpose-driven brand campaigns. PR amplifies our mission to make "A Better World for Pets" by engaging consumers, industry partners, and Associates.
Role Purpose
As a Corporate Affairs Intern, you will gain hands-on, 360-degree exposure to both the Public Affairs and Public Relations wings of a leading multinational pet care business. Working directly with the Corporate Affairs Leader, you will assist in driving strategic engagements, executing purpose-led corporate campaigns, drafting high-impact communications, and managing crucial cross-functional initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Public Affairs & Stakeholder Engagement
- Leadership Visit Support: Provide end-to-end support for Global and Regional Leadership visits. Assist in scheduling, briefing, and organizing high-profile meetings where leaders connect with key ministers, government officials, and industry leaders to exchange meaningful, strategic dialogues.
- Stakeholder & Agreement Management: Help map, track, and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders. Support the drafting and alignment of official agreements, Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), and regulatory alignment documentation.
- Policy Research: Monitor and summarize regional and national regulatory policies affecting the pet food and animal care industry.
2. Public Relations & Media Relations
- Brand PR & Product Campaigns: Assist in planning and executing brand PR initiatives that amplify product awareness and key campaign messaging across mainstream and digital media channels.
- Media & Editorial Support: Draft and proofread press releases, articles, feature stories, and briefing documents. Maintain and update the regional media database.
- Industry Representation: Support coordination and logistics for industry body events and corporate forums, positioning Mars Petcare as a thought leader in the pet care industry.
3. Purpose-Led & Internal Communications
- Purpose Campaigns: Help drive and coordinate purpose-led, high-impact events, such as Global Adoption Week, to promote pet adoption and stray welfare in alignment with our corporate mission.
- Internal Communications: Partner with the People & Organization (P&O/HR) team to design and deploy key internal communications, newsletters, and engagement initiatives to align local Associates with global goals.
- Content Creation: Develop engaging corporate content for internal portals and corporate channels, celebrating team milestones and localized initiatives.
4. Cross-Functional Support & Crisis Management
- Legal Alignment: Collaborate closely with the Legal team to support risk-monitoring and preparedness, ensuring quick and structured responses to any potential brand or corporate reputation crises.
- Executive Support: Directly assist the Corporate Affairs Leader in compiling executive summaries, creating presentation decks for high-level meetings, and managing routine administrative alignments.
Education & Eligibility
- Educational Background: Completed a Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mass communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Corporate Communications, or a highly related field.
- Availability: Must be available for a full-time, 6-month in-office internship in Hyderabad.
- Joining: Must be an immediate joiner.

- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to craft professional, clear, and compelling narratives for diverse audiences (internal associates, media, and external stakeholders).
- Interpersonal Agility: High emotional intelligence with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders, including senior leaders and external dignitaries.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent project management skills, detail-oriented, and capable of prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced corporate environment.
- Crisis Sensitivity: Sound judgment and discretion when dealing with sensitive, confidential, or high-risk corporate information.
- Mission Alignment: A genuine love for pets and a strong alignment with Mars Petcare’s purpose of creating "A Better World for Pets."
