Purchasing Officer

Alexandria · Hybrid

About this role

As Purchasing Officer, you'll play a key role in keeping our operations running smoothly through smart purchasing and planning decisions. Working closely with our Sourcing team, you'll support category roadmaps and identify opportunities to continuously improve how we operate.

You'll own end-to-end purchasing and planning across Fresh Produce categories, balancing customer demand, supplier capability and operational requirements.

Success in this role means making timely, commercially sound purchasing decisions that deliver strong service outcomes, control costs and minimise waste.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end purchasing, planning, and PO execution across allocated categories

  • Translate demand requirements into accurate and timely ordering decisions across FCs

  • Partner closely with Sourcing to align supplier capability, availability, and commercial outcomes

  • Monitor and manage inventory, service levels, and waste performance

  • Drive ordering discipline, cadence, and continuous improvement

  • Identify risks and implement proactive supply and inventory actions

What we’re looking for:

  • High availability with disciplined inventory

  • Reduced waste and cost leakage

  • Strong supplier alignment and execution

  • Clear ownership of purchasing outcomes end-to-end

  • Working hours: This is an operational role supporting multiple fulfilment centres, requiring flexibility to work partial weekend hours or monitor purchasing and replenishment activities as required

You’ll bring:

  • Experience in purchasing or planning

  • Strong commercial judgement balancing cost, availability, and waste

  • Confident stakeholder management across suppliers and internal teams

  • Data-driven with strong attention to detail

Great Benefits:

Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • An extra 6 days of annual leave every year, on top of the standard entitlements.

  • Hybrid: 3 days in office

  • Growth on us – 5 paid training days each year, plus the chance to explore projects across different functions.

  • Delicious perks – Discounted Marley Spoon boxes delivered to your door (plus a test kitchen at HQ where you’ll taste tomorrow’s recipes first).

  • A generous parental leave scheme with 12 weeks paid leave and including $7.5k childcare pay.

  • Corporate discounts on health insurance with BUPA for you and your family.

  • Well-being matters – 24/7 support through Sonder.

  • Great culture - Join a welcoming team of people who genuinely get along, support one another daily and create an environment where you are encouraged to learn and thrive.

  • No red tape – We value autonomy, accountability, and getting things done without formal hurdles.

  • Global team, local spirit – Flat hierarchies, great energy, and 50+ nationalities working together.
