About this role

Location: Marie Curie Hospice, Glasgow

Salary: NHS Specialty Doctor Pay Scale £64,158 - £99,975 per annum pro rata (dependent on experience) plus 2% Availability Supplement and 1.5 PA (6 hours) 

Hours:  6 PAs (24 hours) per week, with 1 in 5 on-call commitment   

Contract: Fixed term for 6-12 months

What we are looking for:

Complete GMC registration, a licence to practice and at least 4 years of full-time postgraduate training (2 of which must have been in relevant acute specialities/or demonstration of equivalent experience and competencies).  MB ChB or equivalent

  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Communication skills that are sensitive to patients and carers
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are desirable.

In collaboration with the broader team, you will primarily provide medical support, assessment and care for hospice inpatients, outpatients, and those attending Wellbeing Service in our specialist unit. 

This role involves participation in teaching and management activities at the hospice. You will be supported and encouraged to conduct audit/quality improvement and participate in activities relating to maintaining clinical excellence within the service.

Previous experience in palliative medicine is desirable but not essential; however, successful applicants will receive education and supervision.

The role involves first on-call cover for the hospice and the regional advice line. On-call is a non-resident but includes returning to the hospice site out of hours when there is a clinical need.
