Position Summary
Hazeltine Nursery is seeking a knowledgeable, hands-on, and results-driven Production Manager to oversee daily maintenance operations and plant production. This role is responsible for managing field crews associates, optimizing production schedules, ensuring plant quality, and driving operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate is experienced in horticulture or nursery production, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about delivering high-quality services while maintaining strong team leadership and accountability.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Production Operations
Production Planning & Scheduling:
Develop and manage weekly and seasonal production schedulesPlant Management:
Oversee all phases of plant production including irrigation, fertilization, pruning, pest/disease control, and proper plant healthQuality Assurance:
Maintain Hazeltine Nursery’s quality standards by conducting routine inspections and ensuring plants meet size, health, and presentation expectations.Process Improvement:
Identify and implement efficiencies in production processes to improveEquipment & Fleet Management:
Oversee maintenance and usage of equipment, vehicles, and tools; coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance schedules.
Supervisory & Personnel Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
Manage and lead crews to ensure productivity, safety, and quality standards are consistently met.Training & Development:
Train staff on best practices, plant care techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures.Performance Management:
Assist management with crew performance evaluations, coaching, discipline, and recognition as appropriate.Time & Labor Management:
Review and approve employee timecards and manage labor allocation to maximize efficiency and stay within budget.Safety Compliance:
Participates in regular safety meetings and ensure adherence to OSHA and company safety standards.
Administrative & Financial Responsibilities
Reporting & Analytics:
Monitor key performance metrics such as production output, shrinkage, labor efficiency, and cost per unit.Forecasting:
Assists in planning seasonal labor needs, equipment and supply requirements.
Team Collaboration & Communication
On-Site Leadership:
Engages with crews to ensure quality, productivity, and team morale.Client & Vendor Interaction:
Support communication with customers and suppliers when needed to ensure satisfaction and smooth operations.Meetings:
Participate in weekly production meetings, planning sessions, and company initiatives.Communication Standards:
Maintain timely and professional communication with team members and leadership.

Follow Hazeltine Nursery policies, procedures, and core values.Professional Representation:
Represent the company with integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence.Ensures all crew members are in professional and PPE attire
Seasonal & Additional Responsibilities
Assist with storm preparation and recovery efforts common
Support special projects, facility improvements, or expansion initiatives.
Participate in industry events, training, or continuing education opportunities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
3–5+ years of experience in maintenance production, horticulture, agriculture, or related field
Strong knowledge of plant care, irrigation systems, fertilization, and pest management
Proven leadership and team management experience
Ability to work in outdoor conditions in Southwest Florida climate
Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication skills
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
