About this role

Margaret Howell is a contemporary British clothing designer who has worked successfully in men’s and women’s clothing for over five decades. Today, Margaret Howell clothes are sold worldwide with 12 own shops in Europe, over 70 outlets in Japan and an established online business.

We are seeking a highly motivated retail professional to sell our womenswear and menswear collection at one of our Paris shops.

HOURS

3 days per week, subject to the Rue Debelleyme rota. Starting in September on a fixed-term contract for 6 months

SALES

- Acquire collection knowledge through training attendance and regularly engaging with seasonal guides and intranet updates to deepen technical understanding and passion for product

- To be aware of the monthly individual and shop sales targets and work to achieve this on a weekly basis maximising all selling opportunities ordering stock in for customers or offering alternatives

- Develop good customer relations through your approach and utilising detailed product knowledge during a sale to represent customer expectations of the brand

- To achieve customer loyalty by proactively following through with customer requests in a timely manner

- To collaborate with colleagues when handling customer enquiries to ensure hand overs are clearly communicated, to ensure efficiency of service

CUSTOMER SERVICE

- Be receptive to customer requirements always being helpful and courteous to achieve a service that is above and beyond their expectations

- Provide accurate information to customers by ensuring knowledge is continuously kept up to date

- Perform Company till transactions accurately and demonstrating the ability to handle a range of transactions

- Deal with telephone enquiries and orders efficiently and politely preparing mail orders tidily and promptly

- Maintain and promote the Company image by wearing Margaret Howell clothing.

STOCK

- Maintain stock in the shop and stockroom in size and style order to ensure stock can be readily located by yourself and the team and not obstructing fire exits and routes

- Prepare stock to be transferred in accurate accordance with the docket and check deliveries and transfers for discrepancies, rectifying when needed

- Monitor stock levels by replenishing sold stock immediately so that products are consistently available for customers

- Take part in periodic stock takes and follow up with recounts demonstrating good attention to detail

- Working with colleagues to cover shop floor adequately to be aware if a customer needs help and to enable vigilance against stock loss

OPERATIONAL

- Monitor the supplies of tissue paper, carrier bags, gift boxes and other necessary stationery so it is readily available on the shop floor and notify management when backroom storage is running low

- To carry out cleaning of fixtures and fittings first thing and throughout the day as necessary

- To take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself, colleagues and customers, by adhering to the Company Health and Safety policy

- Abide by Company policies and procedures and keep up to date with policy changes on the intranet

- Establish good communication across all Margaret Howell shops to develop good working relationships to contribute to a seamless Margaret Howell experience

- To adhere to re-cycling procedures

- Demonstrate a flexible approach to the needs of the business by showing a willingness to engage with other duties as and when requested, including recycling procedures and assisting on paperwork

- If working in a concession, develop a good working relationship with the department store and abide by their rules and regulations

  • fluent in French

Under the design direction of Margaret Howell the company produces men's and women's clothing and an extensive household goods collection produced by specialist manufacturers in the UK and Italy. It's MHL. label was established in 2003 and is workwear inspired and European produced. Since 1999 the company has produced shirts and nightwear in its own North London factory.

The headquarters, based at 34 Wigmore Street, London, accommodate both the design studio and flagship shop selling the mens and womens collections alongside homeware products that complement the design ethos, including Poole Pottery, Ercol and Anglepoise together with designers such as Robert Welch and David Mellor.
