The Counter Sales role delivers exceptional customer service through in-person, phone, and digital channels while supporting branch operations through order fulfillment, merchandising, and will-call assistance. This position also handles product inquiries, returns, and inventory management using company systems and tools.
Duties & Responsibilities
Customer Interaction

Delivers exceptional customer service through prompt, professional communication and effective issue resolution.

Handles inquiries via phone, email, fax, and in person regarding pricing, product availability, and order status.

Processes stock and special orders, coordinates deliveries, and follows up on will-calls, backorders, and special requests.

Maintains professional relationships with customers, vendors, and internal teams, supporting a collaborative, solutions-oriented environment.

Accurately fulfills sales orders and ensures timely distribution to shipping or will-call areas.
Counter Sales & Operations

Completes required training and applies knowledge effectively across all branch departments.

Performs general warehouse tasks, ensuring a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Wears appropriate PPE and conducts safety checks on material handling equipment.

Maintains communication with management regarding work status, breaks, and task updates.

Monitors customer queues and responds promptly to ensure efficient service.
Product Handling

Sorts, stocks, and labels products accurately according to established systems.

Performs quality checks on returned and damaged goods for accuracy and condition.

Demonstrates basic product knowledge to assist customers and support sales efforts.

Sets up and maintains product displays in accordance with merchandising standards.
Inventory Control

Follows established procedures for accurate inventory tracking and reporting.

Verifies incoming and outgoing merchandise, promptly reporting discrepancies or errors.
Other

Maintains proficiency with company computer systems in aspects related to job, such as data entry, messaging, call logs, data notations, queue updates, batching, or other job & office functions and requirements

Qualifications

High School or its GED equivalent
-
3 or more years’ experience with customer service and related functions.

Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Aptitude for mathematical operations and numerical analysis.
-
Proficient in using office technology, including computers, photocopiers, scanners, phone systems, and virtual meeting platforms, as required for daily responsibilities.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This position may require up to 40–43 hours per week and involves regular physical activity, including:

Lifting of 25–50 lbs up to 5 hours per day.

Operating forklifts and material handling equipment for up to 6 hours daily.

Regular bending, squatting, kneeling, and reaching.
-
Prolonged use of hands, arms, and feet.
-
Periods of sitting, standing, walking, and twisting throughout the shift.

Visual requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and focus adjustment.
