Deputy Manager - M&HCV BIW Production
About this role
Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
Process Planning & Development
• Develop and implement BIW manufacturing processes for new model launches and existing products.
• Define process flow, line balancing, cycle time, manpower requirements, and workstation layouts.
• Prepare process sheets, SOPs, control plans, PFMEA, and work instructions.
• Establish welding sequences and joining technologies including spot welding, MIG welding, laser welding, and hemming.
Production Support
• Monitor production performance and resolve process-related issues.
• Achieve production KPIs related to Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Morale (SQCDM).
• Drive productivity improvement and line efficiency enhancement projects.
• Support production teams in troubleshooting equipment and process issues.
Quality Management
• Ensure compliance with dimensional and weld quality standards.
• Analyze quality defects and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Conduct root cause analysis using 5 Why, Fishbone, 8D, and Problem-Solving methodologies.
• Coordinate with Quality and Design teams for process improvements.
Equipment & Automation
• Work with robotic welding cells, fixtures, jigs, conveyors, and automation systems.
• Participate in equipment commissioning, trials, buy-off, and production readiness activities.
• Ensure optimal utilization and maintenance of tooling and fixtures.
Continuous Improvement
• Lead Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, TPM, and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Implement cycle time reduction and OEE improvement projects.
• Drive automation and Industry 4.0 initiatives within BIW operations.
New Product Development (NPD)
• Support simultaneous engineering activities from design to production.
• Conduct feasibility studies and manufacturability reviews.
• Participate in APQP, PPAP, Run@Rate, and production validation activities.
Safety & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with EHS standards and statutory requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement safety improvements.
• Promote safe working practices across BIW operations.
Technical Skills
• BIW welding technologies (Spot, MIG, Projection, Laser Welding)
• Robotic welding systems (ABB, FANUC, KUKA, Yaskawa)
• Process Planning and Line Balancing
• PFMEA, Control Plan, APQP, PPAP
• AutoCAD, CATIA, Process Simulate, Delmia, RobCAD
• GD&T and Dimensional Management
• Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma

Experience
3-10+ years of experience

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Automobile, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
