Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
Job Purpose
The role focuses on Vehicle-level verification of high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical systems, ePowertrain, charging systems, diagnostics, controls, and software features under laboratory and real-world operating conditions.
Key roles and responsibilities
Vehicle Electrical System Validation
Validate vehicle electrical functions at system and vehicle level.
Test and verify LV electrical architecture (12V/24V systems).
Validate lighting systems, indicators, horn, wiper, and body electrical features.
Verify operation of power distribution units, relays, fuses, wiring harnesses, and connectors.
Perform sleep current, wake-up, power mode transition, and electrical load tests.
Troubleshoot electrical issues using wiring diagrams and diagnostic tools.
ePowertrain Validation
Validate Electric Drive Unit (Motor, Inverter, Transmission if applicable).
Perform powertrain functional and performance testing.
Verify motor start-up, torque delivery, acceleration, hill hold, regenerative braking, and driveability functions.
Conduct vehicle-level efficiency and energy consumption validation.
Validate thermal derating, protection functions, and fault responses.
Support endurance and durability testing of ePowertrain systems.
Battery & High Voltage System Testing
Validate HV battery, BMS, contactors, pre-charge and discharge functionality.
Verify battery protection features and safety interlocks.
Test HV isolation, fault detection, and emergency shutdown functions.
Support battery performance and charging validation activities.
Execute vehicle charging tests using AC/DC charging systems as applicable.
Vehicle Function Validation
Develop and execute validation plans for vehicle functions.
Verify drive modes, reverse mode, limp-home mode, diagnostics, and warning strategies.
Validate instrument cluster indications and driver information messages.
Perform fault injection testing and verify fail-safe responses.
Execute feature validation under varying environmental and operating conditions.
Diagnostics & Troubleshooting
Use CAN tools to monitor vehicle communication networks.
Analyze CAN, LIN, and diagnostic data logs.
Debug vehicle issues and coordinate with design teams for root cause analysis.
Raise, track, and validate closure of defects using issue management systems.
Data Acquisition & Reporting
Prepare validation procedures, test reports, and defect documentation.
Collect and analyze vehicle data using DAQ and CAN logging tools.
Present findings, test results, and recommendations to stakeholders.
Ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, and validation results.
Competitor Benchmarking & Feature Evaluation
Conduct competitor vehicle benchmarking activities focusing on electric 3-wheeler platforms.
Evaluate and compare vehicle electrical, electronic, and ePowertrain functions against competitor products.
Benchmark key vehicle attributes including:
- Driveability and performance
- Acceleration and gradeability
- Regenerative braking characteristics
- Battery and charging performance
- Vehicle range and energy efficiency
- Instrument cluster and HMI features
- Connected vehicle features
- Safety and diagnostic functions
- Electrical architecture and system integration
Experience
6 to 9 years
