About this role
Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
Lead end-to-end Product Cost Management for Driveline commodity covering Transmission, Axle, Powertrain (AD/FD), Casting, Forging and Packaging & Forwarding, ensuring achievement of business case targets, cost competitiveness, and value optimization across all programs.
1. Product Cost Management & Business Case Delivery
- Drive achievement of material cost targets for all AD, FD, EV & LMM programs within <1% deviation from Business Case
- Own Business Case preparation, validation, and convergence with CFT teams
- Ensure timely SBC (Should Be Cost) and ROCM closure at all project stages
- Provide cost visibility, risk assessment, and mitigation for ongoing projects
2. Commodity Ownership – Driveline
- Lead costing for Live Axle, Transmission, Engine & Powertrain (AD/FD), Casting, Forging, Packaging & Forwarding
- Drive technical cost optimization using deep knowledge of casting, forging & machining processes
- Enable “Design to Cost (DTC)” by influencing design and engineering decisions
3. Cost Optimization & Value Engineering
- Identify and deliver cost reduction / avoidance opportunities across lifecycle (target multi-crore savings)
- Drive benchmarking (internal & external) and cost convergence initiatives
- Develop part-family cost matrices and cost repositories to support future programs
4. Cross Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with PD, CDMM, SSU, Logistics, Finance and suppliers for first-time-right costing
- Act as SPOC for driveline commodity across platforms
- Strengthen supplier discussions through analytical costing and negotiation inputs
5. Digitization & Capability Building
- Lead digitization initiatives including cost modelling tools, analytics, and automation
- Build and deploy cost databases, guidelines, and standardization frameworks
- Drive adoption/development of costing software and digital solutions across team
6. New Technology & Future Readiness
- Evaluate and enable costing for new technologies in EV & advanced powertrain systems (minimum 3–4 tech integrations annually benchmark)
- Support innovation at right cost aligned with CPO expectations

Education Qualification
- BE / B.Tech (Mechanical / Production / Automobile)
- MBA (Preferred)
General Experience
- 16–20 years of experience in Automotive Product Costing / Value Engineering / Sourcing
- Strong exposure to Driveline / Powertrain systems
- Proven experience in handling large commodities or leading teams
