POSITION SCOPE

Under the direction of their department Manager, the Shophand is responsible for various up-keep and maintenance duties such as cleaning shop, picking up tools, sweeping floors, emptying trash cans and other tasks as required. This position is considered to be a safety-sensitive position.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Manufacturing & Maintenance

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and yard, including floors, wash bays, washrooms, lunchrooms, work benches, entrances, storage areas, and parking lots.
  • Perform daily housekeeping duties including sweeping, pressure washing, emptying garbage, cleaning debris, and maintaining a clutter-free work environment.
  • Perform daily forklift inspections and report any deficiencies.
  • Clean and maintain the parts washer, ensuring fluid levels are maintained and debris is removed.
  • Maintain shop tools, equipment, and vehicles, ensuring tools are cleaned, stored properly, and sent for repair when required.
  • Return all parts and tools to their designated storage locations and return unused parts to the warehouse.
  • Monitor and maintain shop consumables, bulk oils, lubricants, washer fluid DEF, fuel, propane, oxygen, and acetylene inventories.
  • Organize and maintain inventory of fittings, rebuilt components, tires, and shop supplies.
  • Maintain the used oil storage area and coordinate waste oil removal.
  • Keep the yard organized by sorting pallets, totes, drums, scrap metal, and other materials.
  • Perform monthly shop inspections.
  • Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or by use of a hand truck.

Operations

  • Assist mechanics with equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, inspections, and general service work.
  • Assist with greasing equipment, 750-hour services, weekly inspections, and pump repacking.
  • Assist with cleaning, assembling, and preparing equipment for field operations.
  • Assist in the bulk plant and other operational departments as required.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, organizing, and transporting parts, tools, and materials.
  • Learn the terminology, operation, and maintenance requirements of Magnum equipment and components.
  • General assembly work that may require operating automated machinery and various power/hand tools.
  • Perform laundry duties and ensure cleaned items are put away in their designated areas. 

General

  • Maintain a safe work environment by identifying and correcting housekeeping and tripping hazards.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Participate in training and development activities.
  • Other related duties as required.


QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

Required

  • Valid driver’s license (non-graduated) with a clean driver’s record.
  • Physically capable of moving/lifting heavy objects up to 23 kg., bending, standing, and climbing repeatedly for extended periods.
  • Legally eligible to work in the country the role is based out of.
