Occupational Health Nurse Technician
The Occupational Health Nurse Technician is responsible for ensuring that Customer, People, and Investor goals are balanced and achieved while supporting a safe, healthy, and productive workforce.
Position Summary
The Occupational Health Nurse Technician supports workplace health, safety, and wellness programs by assisting with employee injury care, workers' compensation administration, regulatory compliance activities, and health promotion initiatives. This role helps ensure a safe and healthy work environment while maintaining the confidentiality of employee health information and supporting occupational health programs across all shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Occupational Health Nurse with treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses within established protocols and scope of practice.
- Provide basic first aid and coordinate referrals for additional medical care as needed.
- Document treatments, maintain employee medical records, and ensure HIPAA compliance.
- Maintain clinic supplies, equipment, and first aid inventory.
- Coordinate and support employee wellness initiatives, health screenings, health education programs, and preventive care activities.
- Assist with workers' compensation claims management, return-to-work programs, medical appointments, and case documentation.
- Support OSHA recordkeeping, drug and alcohol screening programs, respirator programs, and other occupational health initiatives.
- Administer and help manage the Hearing Conservation Program, including audiometric testing, employee education, recordkeeping, and regulatory compliance.
- Partner with site leadership to promote health, wellness, and safety best practices.
- Track First Aid/CPR certifications and assist with health and safety training programs.
- Serve as a resource for employees and management regarding occupational health, wellness, and safety concerns.
- Work a flexible schedule to support all shifts as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Active South Carolina license or certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Paramedic, and/or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification, or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical, occupational health, emergency medical, or industrial healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical recordkeeping systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
- CAOHC (Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation) Certification preferred.
- Experience administering and managing Hearing Conservation Programs, including audiometric testing and OSHA compliance.
- Experience supporting or leading employee wellness initiatives, health promotion programs, and preventive health campaigns.
- Working knowledge of OSHA recordkeeping requirements, workers' compensation processes, and occupational health regulations.
- Bilingual in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
Compensation
Pay Range: $50,000 - $60,000 annually
