The Los Angeles Unified School District seeks an outstanding elementary Principal to lead the students, staff, families, and community of Wilshire Park Elementary School toward continued academic growth and success.
Wilshire Park Elementary School is a is a TK–5 elementary school serving approximately 310 students. The student population is 62% Hispanic, 17% Asian, 7% African American, 4% White, 3% Filipino, 3% Two or More Races, 3% Unknown, and less than 1% Pacific Islander. Of this population, 79% are socioeconomically disadvantaged, 24% are students with disabilities, 20% are English Learners, and 6% are identified as Gifted and Talented (GATE). The school also offers a Korean Dual Language Program. Wilshire Park is part of the LA Mid-City/Hollywood Community of Schools and is located at 4063 Ingraham Street, Los Angeles, CA 90005.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
will be a student-centered, equity-driven, collaborative, and instructionally focused leader who believes all students can achieve at high levels. The candidate will demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to lead a diverse elementary school community that includes English Learners, Students with Disabilities, Gifted and Talented students, and students with a wide range of academic, social-emotional, and developmental needs. They will possess strong knowledge of the LAUSD Strategic Plan, the California Common Core State Standards, the LAUSD Teaching and Learning Framework, and the LAUSD School Leadership Framework. The candidate will be able to supervise and evaluate instruction, facilitate high-quality professional development, and use data to improve student achievement through rigorous, differentiated instruction. They will foster a positive school culture grounded in Wilshire Park’s values while building meaningful relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, collaborative decision-making, strong organizational and fiscal management skills, the ability to delegate responsibilities effectively, excellent communication and time management skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement. They will enthusiastically support Wilshire Park’s signature programs, including the Korean Dual Language Program, Creative Arts Network, school gardens, and community partnerships, while ensuring all students are prepared to become lifelong learners and responsible members of an increasingly diverse and technologically advanced world. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and/or Korean is highly desirable.
SALARY:
40G - E Basis ($123,618 - $153,961) – 234 paid days
- For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
- For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
- Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (PUBLIC SCHOOL SETTING):
- Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service
- A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program
- A minimum of two years of experience in an elementary school
- Two years of service in a position that required and utilized an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position.
Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice

- A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching
- A valid California Administrative Services Credential • Multicultural coursework*
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university • District Master Plan requirements*

For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program. Qualified applicants not in an eligible pool from within or outside LAUSD may be considered if fewer than five applicants from the eligible pool apply for the position.
