COORDINATOR, DISTRICT OPERATIONS SUPPORT SERVICES

43G (School Support Administrator, 0515)

 

Provides operational support to all schools, including matters related to school safety, and coordination of response to incidents, child abuse reporting, student discipline, and facilities.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates and administers the implementation of programs that support a safe school environment:
    • Monitors incidents and crime reports
    • Responds to daily incidents occurring on all LAUSD facilities
    • Coordinates District response and regularly communicates with schools and the Los Angeles School Police Watch Commander
    • Collaborates with law enforcement agencies on hotline tips/hate crimes
    • Coordinates the operational needs of schools and services requested
  • Guides schools to accomplish successful completion of safety programs, projects, and activities
  • Plans and coordinates implementation of the Board resolutions with regions, offices, and local government agencies
  • Reviews, evaluates, and implements District policies and procedures that guide school operations
  • Coordinates daily communications (Board informatives, e-mails, reports, text messages, memos, etc.) to central office divisions, senior leadership, and Board offices regarding school operational activities
  • Coordinates, develops, and facilitates professional development that builds the capacity of schools to manage school operations
  • Collaborates with Student Support and Attendance Services, School Police, and other divisions to implement school safety resolutions and best practices to ensure student and staff safety
  • Performs other duties as assigned

SALARY:

Salary: 43G, (School Support Administrator, 0515) – A Basis ($149,046 – 185,940) – 261 paid days

  • In the case of an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
  • For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
  • Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
  • This position is deemed certificated under Education Code Section 44065,but may not qualify for "creditable service" under Education Code Section 22119.5 for CalSTRS benefits. However, if the candidate chosen for the position is already a CalSTRS member, he/she can fill out an election form to remain in CalSTRS and thereby obtain CalSTRS credit for this service.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Permanent certificated employee of the Los Angeles Unified School District
  • At least eight (8) years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than two (2) years of which must have been in a position(s) requiring the Administrative Services Credential
  • A valid California Administrative Services Credential
  • An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university
  • Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework*

Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • School-based leadership experience, preferably at the principal level in grades K-12
  • Strong leadership, team building, and performance management experience
  • Ability to lead professional development and training for large and small groups
  • Demonstrated experience in operational matters including:
    • School safety
    • School site facilities issues and concerns
    • Knowledge of California Education Code and experience dealing with law enforcement personnel and related agencies in conjunction with District and school matters
    • Knowledge of employee misconduct policies and procedures
    • Knowledge of child abuse reporting and procedures

CONTINUED - DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Knowledge of sexual harassment procedures
    • In-depth knowledge of District policies, procedures, goals, and objectives
    • Strong and effective oral and written communication skills
    • Experience in and/or knowledge of community organization systems
    • Ability to collect, analyze, and utilize data for short- and long-range planning and program evaluation to measure effectiveness, to inform professional development, and propose modifications in systems and procedures
  • Experience in building staff capacity
  • Experience with computer and basic software programs and District applications
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout the District, as appropriate, to perform assigned duties
