Purchasing Agent

Location: San Jose, Costa Rica

Join Lonza as a Purchasing Agent and play a key role in ensuring the timely procurement of goods and services that support our operations. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with internal stakeholders and suppliers, drive process efficiency, and contribute to the continuity of supply across multiple sites.

What you will do:

  • Manage the review and validation of purchase requisitions and approval workflows for indirect goods, services, and CAPEX purchases across multiple sites.
    • Create and process purchase orders and proactively expedite orders to ensure on-time delivery.
    • Ensure purchase orders and contracts are aligned with approved suppliers and current procurement policies and guidelines.
    • Monitor supplier performance, identify delivery or service issues, and collaborate with Strategic Buyers and Category Managers to drive resolution.
    • Promote the use of approved procurement channels, including Ariba e-catalogues and automated purchasing solutions, to improve efficiency and compliance.
    • Provide first-line support for procurement-related inquiries, including Accounts Payable and Ariba helpdesk requests.
    • Partner with stakeholders to redirect requisitions based on sourcing strategies and support continuous improvement within procurement processes.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, order management, or a related supply chain function.
    • Advanced procurement knowledge with at least 4 years of relevant professional experience.
    • Experience processing purchase orders, managing requisitions, and working with supplier contracts and procurement workflows.
    • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
    • Experience using ERP and procurement systems including Ariba. SAP or similar purchasing platforms advantageous.
    • Business-fluent English communication skills with the ability to effectively support internal and external stakeholders.
