Role Profile

Role Description:

This role sits at the heart of LSEG’s finance transformation agenda and is responsible for strengthening the end-to-end data control framework across planning, reporting, and analytics processes.

The role will drive the design, execution, and continuous improvement of data flow controls and reconciliation processes across multiple finance systems. It will ensure accuracy, integrity, and completeness of financial data, while supporting the transition from manual reconciliations to automated, scalable controls aligned with modern finance architecture.

Key responsibilities of the role:

The role will include but not limited to the following:

1. Data Flow Controls & Reconciliations

  • Own and be responsible for critical data reconciliations across finance systems (e.g., EPM, reporting platforms, upstream/downstream systems)
  • Ensure data consistency across plan, forecast, and actuals by identifying and resolving breaks
  • Define reconciliation standards, frequency, thresholds, and escalation protocols

2. Controls Framework Design & Governance

  • Continuously review and enhance the end-to-end data control framework to ensure it is:
    • Comprehensive
    • Scalable
    • Audit-compliant
  • Define and implement new control checks aligned to evolving system architecture and business needs

3. Impact Assessment of System Changes

  • Assess implications of system implementations, integrations, and enhancements on:
    • Existing reconciliations
    • Data flows
    • Control design
  • Partner with transformation, engineering, and system teams to embed controls into future-state processes

4. Automation of Controls

  • Drive automation of manual reconciliations and control checks using tools such as EPM, Power Automate, or engineering-led solutions
  • Improve control effectiveness through:
    • Real-time monitoring
    • Automated alerts and exception handling
    • Scalable control execution
  • Support the transition toward fully automated and proactive control frameworks

5. Issue Management & Root Cause Analysis (RCA)

  • Lead RCA of reconciliation breaks and control failures
  • Differentiate between:
    • Tactical fixes (short-term remediation)
    • Strategic solutions (system/process redesign)
  • Track recurring issues and drive sustainable resolution

6. Operating Model & Control Ownership

  • Define where controls should be:
    • Owned
    • Implemented
    • Monitored
  • Establish clear accountability across Finance, Engineering, and functional teams
  • Support governance forums and provide control performance insights

7. Continuous Improvement & Transformation

  • Find opportunities to:
    • Reduce manual interventions
    • Improve data quality
    • Enhance control efficiency
  • Contribute to broader finance transformation initiatives, including EPM adoption and data standardization

Key skills required to be successful in the role:

Technical & Functional Expertise

  • Strong understanding of:
    • Financial planning & reporting processes (FP&A)
    • Data flows across finance systems
    • Reconciliations (system-to-system, subledger-to-ledger, planning vs reporting)
  • Experience with EPM systems, ERP platforms, and reporting tools
  • Familiarity with control frameworks, audit requirements, and governance models

Analytical & Problem-Solving

  • Strong root cause analysis capability
  • Ability to diagnose complex data issues across interconnected systems
  • Structured thinking with a focus on scalable solutions
  • Automation & Digital Mindset

  • Experience driving automation (e.g., automation tools, workflows, engineering partnerships)
  • Understanding of control automation concepts such as monitoring, alerting, and exception handling

Stakeholder Management

  • Ability to work across:
    • Finance
    • Engineering
    • Transformation teams
  • Strong communication skills to translate technical issues into business impact

Experience required:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Data Analytics
  • Experience in large, complex, multi-system finance environments
  • Prior exposure to finance transformation programs
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment managing multiple priorities
  • Proven track record to interact with senior management
  • Demonstrated ability to provide business partnering support
  • Excellent use of Microsoft office packages, PowerPoint, Excel/ Power BI/Query, Word and other BI tools
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues globally
