Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship – Cholsey Primary School
Cholsey Primary School has been at the heart of the community in Cholsey Village for many years and provides a rich education and learning experience for children in Cholsey and many of the neighbouring villages. As the village has continued to grow and develop, so too has the school. With a second expansion taking the school to two-form entry, we are looking forward to continuing to be an integral part of Cholsey village and welcoming more families to our caring community.
We are currently seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team.
Apprenticeship Summary:
- Salary: £8 an hour
- Working Week: Monday to Friday - 8:30am to 3:30pm
- Hours: 30 hours per week
- Online apprenticeship training supported by our skilled tutors
- Level 3 SEND Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship qualification
- Location: Church Road, Cholsey Wallingford, Oxfordshire, OX10 9PP
The Role:
This post involves working as a Teaching Assistant during the school day and being a playworker in our popular and oversubscribed After School Club on some days of the week. The role involves supporting class teachers and SENDCo, working with individual children, supervising and supporting at lunchtimes and running small group interventions.
Main Duties:
Support for Pupils
- Supervise and support all pupils, including those with special needs.
- Promote safety, inclusion, interaction, independence, and self-esteem.
- Encourage engagement in learning and provide feedback under teacher guidance.
- Administer First Aid (training provided).
Support for Teachers
- Help maintain a positive classroom environment and display pupils’ work.
- Assist with lesson planning and pupil progress tracking.
- Provide feedback to teachers and support behaviour management.
- Build relationships with parents and assist with admin tasks.
Support for the Curriculum
- Work with children in various settings (indoor/outdoor).
- Deliver and adjust structured learning activities, including core subjects.
- Support technology use and manage learning materials.
Support for the School:
- Follow policies on safeguarding, safety, and data protection.
- Promote equality and contribute to the school’s ethos and CARE values.
- Collaborate with staff, attend meetings, undertake training, and support school trips.

Other Requirements:
- Must have the right to work in the UK.
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and professional development.
- Willingness to undergo training and enhanced DBS check.
Training and Development:
As an apprentice, you will receive support through both on-the-job learning and formal training as part of your apprenticeship programme. This will typically include:
- Study towards a relevant qualification, Level 3 Teaching Assistant Diploma.
- On-the-job training and mentoring from experienced professionals.
- Regular review meetings to track progress and development.

Pre-employment checks. Please be aware that upon a successful offer of employment the company completes digitalised right-to-work checks and DBS applications via an external provider - 'Matrix Screening'.
