POSITION OVERVIEW: As a Sr. Record Keeper at LJA in our Transportation department, you will be responsible for maintaining construction project records and processing related paperwork; reviews and modifies contract documents to reflect changes to original agreement; monitors records to verify compliance with state and federal laws and determines payments due contractor for work completed. Work requires co-locating with construction inspection staff at project office including contact with contractors.

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:

  • Attend pre-construction meetings to dialogue with contractor's bookkeeper on record-keeping procedures.
  • Monitor contractors' compliance with federal requirements related to Equal Employment Opportunity and wages.
  • Monitor On-the-Job Training program and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise and Small Business Enterprise programs; submits required reports.
  • Prepares and submits monthly and final estimates; checks calculations against work log and estimate form to verify work is completed before payment is made.
  • Processes change orders, supplemental agreements and extra work orders.
  • Sets up file and documentation system for each construction project within assigned area.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
  • Scans and maintains project records in electronic database.
  • Develops and follows processes to ensure contract compliance per FHWA and TxDOT contract requirements.
  • Work and communicate with Project Managers project status and staffing plans.
  • Manage, assign, and schedule work assignments with direct report record keepers

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree preferred, High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies or experience in industry

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10 years in Construction record keeping, accounting (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent)
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Related College education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis
  • Communicate effectively
